Yeasterdays + todays perspective drawing (roughly an hour). The idea was to construct a church/monastry like a child would do with building blocks. Tell me if you see it . Also, again i tried to shade a bit which i hope is mostly correct. Atleast the blocks (to me) feel like they belong in one world. Cheers!

Great work on perspective.
It looks like you shaded all the cubes consistently and even added cast shadows.

And here are yesterdays figure drawings, which my bird-brain apparently forgot to upload . Anyway, they are mostly done in just a little over 5 mins (I could not not-finish them once my timer rang ^^). I'm sure y'all know that feeling too.

I finally came around and finished the gesture drawing assignment 4. As you might have guessed the 3 mannequinns were drawn besides the reference and the other two i drew from imagination. What do you guys think?

Hey everyone,
I am currently busy drawing/painting my first character ever :). I'll definitely share the final piece and some progress shots once I am finished. In the meantime i did some quick brushwork studies today which ii thought might be interesting.

I did not think i was going to share some of my gesture drawings again soon, because I did not like how they turned out at all. I felt stuck for a long time. However i liked how todays gesture drawings turned out. To me it feels like I am finally improving again. Take a look

also i rly like your brushwork studies up there, its quite colorful and pretty!

I started doing some portrait studies. I've set my self a limit of about 2-2.5 h for each one and tried to replicate the skin as best as I could. I still have a long way to go. I noticed that I especially had trouble with the sublte color changes and edges. Does anybody have tips on that?

Also idk why, but somehow the forums change the colors on images I upload. Doeas anybody have a clue on why that might be? Thanks!

Male came out nice; you don't have lighter values here and his beard is lost (but you probably focused more on face)

For hard edges you can learn planes of the face with asaro head it also helps with shading.

You can try picking colors in some areas (surfaces in light, in dark, cheeks etc.), paint these swatches next to each other and observe how they behave with color picker. For example cheeks and nose will appear more reddish

Hm. If you're using a tablet with a screen it's display settings might be different from your monitors.

If you're struggling with subtle color changes here is a video with a few methods. The first one (manual blending) is probably what you will want to be using as it gives you the most control. I don't think he mentioned it but having the color picker hotkey is crucial.

Overall great work! I like how you started adding volume to you skeleton's torso and head. It helps a lot with the perspective.

The lighter values are actually there, atleast as its displayed at my screen. I checked my color correction settings again and it actually switched to a different profile. Not sure if thats the cause, but I changed it back and we'll see.
Also thanks for posting the video! I've seen it before but decided to rewatch it and oh boy . It somehow never crossed my mind that i could actually lower the opacity for blending. Duh. It made such a difference . You'll see it tomorrow. Thanks again!

In the meantime, I finally finished the one-point perspective assignment. Drawing things in perspective aligned with the perspective lines is relatively simple by now. However I cant figure out how to draw things in correct perspective that are aligned at an angle to the perspective llines (eg the chair at the back). How do you guys do it? Do you crate another vanishing point? Do you just wing it?

Also here is my reference photo. My goal was to give it a 19th/20th century vibe. Like the home of a noble adventurer, a member of the Travellers club.

I finished the two point perspective assignment today. Long, long after I originally planned. The idea i ultimately went for was a pirate city, but they've given up on sailing and transformed their ships into buildings. Also the POV is from a boat driving around in one of the many canals. (which, now that i mention it, I might have added ). Aaaaaaanyway, have fun exploring!
