I can't anymore 🥲 The trees kinda look like blobs but have been really feeling that mental strain ( ノ ゚ー゚)ノ I think I've been working on this painting alone for about 8 hours

I tried to pay more attention to making the midground and background of a similar, and lighter value. But for the reference, I found that light and local values kinda make the standard dark, medium, light value distribution a bit mixed. So I think I relied on more of the shadows to help me know that standard order of values. Hopefully it's evident that the darkest shadows are in foreground.

Which created a question: would shadows, or areas not affected by light, generally be a guide to how I should establish the "standard" values? This would be great to know if I were to create my own landscape. If anyone knows let me know! I'll prob search it up too later

value #6

Took a whole day to complete one of the term 3 assignments ;-; Liking how the boxes fit with the muscles, although I messed up one of them unfortunately

Middle stage and final result:

Hi Rebecca.
Congrats in winning our monthly banner at Discord

Wow, I love your constructions! I think these are pretty solid, even though I have some doubts on the neck's muscles in some drawings. Keep it up :sparkles: !

Thank you Lia! Do you mind elaborating where the neck muscles seem odd? I want to know 🥺

Dang these are really fantastic. I don't know why but my favorite part is the bag on the second piece. Just feels so light, wicker and volumous. Fantastic work!

So, I checked the neck's muscles of the second and third drawing of the second row. I tried to draw a head to understand better the flow and shape of the neck, the third is correct but the second one, for me, was a bit thicker. In particular the trapezius on the right side (of the body, not our right) was a bit higher and the left one larger. I corrected also the deltoid because it seemed not in the correct perspective (if the pose is a standard pose).

But take my feed with a grain of salt, I'm not an expert in human anatomy, hope this helps you!
I don't know if you checked yet Proko's video on necks but I'll leave here the link!

Thanks Lia for taking the time to point it out
I used a skeleton as a base for drawing the muscles, as per the instructions for this particular assignment. I corrected the parts you mentioned as well as I could, although I don't think the deltoid could be repositioned as much because of the skeleton:

I appreciate the critique, made me realize that deltoid part probably shouldn't come out that twisty lol and the relationship between parts

Np, but now I understand a lot better. The deltoid I think is in the right place because you are considering its attachment to the bone, I was thinking about bicep's volume that would cover the deltoid. Didn't know that you were using a skeleton to construct the muscles :astonished:, I'm not yet at term 2.

I'm so glad I found your forum topic, I was wondering where it is since I saw your gorgeous monthly banner work! I love that piece so much  Your drawings are so amazing, I can't wait to see more from you!! And also I have to say, the effort you put into your room and 2 point building assignments is incredible!!

Hi Gellenvera! Sorry this reply is so late, thank you for your kind words! Those two perspective assignments really was a challenge to my tenacity at the time, so I'm glad people like it haha

A couple works I did over the past month or two. Gosh, how did I forget to post here for over month (╯▽╰ )
I took a pause on going through the terms for art school, and unfortunately went on a tangent...
I did try taking an environment sketching class, so hopefully I will be showing more works from that class when I get to it

But at the moment, I think it's about time (overdue 😅) l go back and finish learning about the muscles...
