Hi hi!
This will be where I journal some progress over studies and/or stuff I'm working on. What I'm learning, what I'm unlearning...
More seriously though... I've been feeling the need to take some time to sit and write down my thoughts about what I'm making lately. Social medias have been wild in the past few years, and it doesn't feel like the "right place" to slow down and express what I'm feeling about my progress on artwork. I really don't like how we're expected to pump out something new every week, it feels icky to me. Furthermore, that's just not jiving with how I do things. Which is why I'm kinda happy that this forum still exists
So let the dumping begin~
A quick portrait

This one admittedly isn't my best portrait so far, but I can say that I had fun painting it. When I do those, I like to post them as a free TTRPG token on my Patreon for people to use. Eventually I may consider trying to sell those as packs, but we'll see how I fare by the end of the year.
I don't want to spend much more time on this one and it was more of a "fun side project" to take my mind off of bigger pieces I'm working on.
Illustration contest

There's this contest about the fauna and flora with a small cash prize that's been interesting me. Recently, bisons have been reintroduced to Canada. I thought I would make this the subject, as I thought it was interesting. As for the reason they went extinct... well it's not a pretty part of Canadian history.
As a more "fun" part of the research for this painting was looking at the bison's ancestors and how it's theorized they made it all the way in North America. It was nice to gather references and to compare with today's plains bison. My plan with this painting is simple; Showing today's bison on Canadian grounds and its ancestor in a sort of "watching over them" position. To make it more obvious that it's Canada, I'd like to reference the mountains out west and the northern lights in the background as a subtle nod.
That's it for now
