i did the twelfth creature of the skin and bone project from the characters and creatures book. I also started coloring them and i found a really efficent way to do it. i use a base colore layer, the sketch layer set to multiply and a normal layer on top for the details. the creature on the right for example was colored in 40 minutes. Since I have time to draw at school i started a new project and i'm currently triyng to get the achievement that consist in doing 48 trophy heads of creatures from imagination. to implement this in my personal project i wrote the secondary character's story and included the hunter of these creatures. here are the stories:
Secondary characters- Midans
character 1
an hunter who was born in the far north with a strong sense of duty and stoic-based personal philosophy. He doesn't believes in any god so he carry the weight of saving the mutants on his shoulders. He has a close friend, which is a blacksmith and a merchant who lives in the east and has all sort of things that this character needs on his expedition. The friend also forges weapons that this character needs to fight creatures, using parts of creatures themselves too. This character travels a lot to rescue mutants, so he can provide a lot of creature-related materials and resources. in the north this character is considered a bit of an outsider, since he is rarely at home and crave strength, which isn't considered a good thing in this population, especially in the north. Also because he travels a lot he has lot of mechanical parts attached on his body, but leaving room for some of his own muscles to develop, which indeed he do, since he's quite buffed. He has a mechanical tail, so he is able to fight underwater too.
Character 2
the hunter's friend. He is a merchant and a blacksmith, and he travels the east cities to sell his products. He is average kind of guy, not too buffed but also not fat. He isn't greedy and he forges mechanical limbs. In particular he forges human looking limbs with no particular function, for people that lost the ability to move. He of course also created warrior's limbs, as for his friend, and other complicated and multi-functional limbs. He has a strong confidence and a developed sense of humor. He has a floating shop, where he sells his merch, which is not very big but can turn into a vehicle, making his life as a merchant easier.
Character 3
an engineer and an artist who loves customizing mechanical parts and is famous in all of the east zone for his creations. She is an extravagant and very creative person. She is not a punk kind of extravagant person, in fact she has a more calm and warm style, with no oversaturated colors. She loves owl-like birds and is a generally very nice person but she doesn't have problems defending herself, especially if her freedom is in danger. She loves flying/gliding/using her overboard and more generally traveling her zone's desert, also to gather resources for her creations. She has an arm and both of the lower legs which are mechanical, to be able to defend against creatures. She can find in the desert. She uses an elegant kind of weapon to defend herself in the desert, which could be a curved sword, a katana or a scythe.
Secondary characters- Lakstanians
character 1
a young member of the working class who aced all the exams he has ever did, because he dreams of being an important scientist. He was basically indoctrinated into thinking that what he had to create, as an aspiring scientist, were weapons. As the best student of his school he was sent to one of the most known middle-class men as an apprentice. Since the government don't want this character to have a proper career they sent him to a scientist (which is one of the main characters) who fell out of favor, mainly because he encourages peoples to think with they're own mind and to try to at least to understand creatures and midans(they are not considered as two different species among lakstanians) instead of just killing them. This character initially hate the scientist, not because he hates the person but because the scientist reminds him of the fact that his government is blocking every possible career for proletarians of his society. As time passes though he realizes that the scientist is a very smart person and that there is indeed a general lack of interest towards the natives of the continents (creatures and midans). He becomes a friend of the scientist and he continue to work with him even after his apprentice period got to an end.
Character 2
an ex drone driver who was basically the commander of a legion of proletarians and machines. She did not wants to fight anymore so she retired from the army to open a bakery. She sells all of the most strange forms of bread to get peoples to smile. She experiments with all different kind of textures and shapes and also creates cakes. She love to do personalized birthday cakes, since they bring happiness to children. but this does not always make people happy since lots of lakstanians are depressed or at least usually sad. She is strongly upset by this and she blame the middle class ( that she's a part of) and the government for this general unhappiness. She is in shape as she practice regularly and likes to run alongside a river near her home.
Character 3
a middle-class woman who is a police officer but also an artist . She has seen the bad aspects of this society and the alienation from reality that it provokes in the people and she denounce these aspects in her murals, which all share an invitation to breaking free from the system and achieving freedom. She also does murals that point out the corruption of her society and of the ruling class. She doesn't have many friends but has a very affectionate family. She also knows the second character since her bakery is near this character's office.
