Abumiguchi - WIPs and Experiments

I do not consider myself a serious artist. I'm adept at 3D, a novice at 2D, and I generally stay away from 1D altogether. Anyway, I've been attempting to create a book for years, and for some reason I want to create the illustrations myself. So I've been experimenting with mixing 3D with 2D.

This is an attempt at depicting Hotei, a folkloric Buddhist deity. I used Daz3D, Blender, then 'painted' over a rough render using Artrage. I'll take any comment or critique, no matter how outrageous or over-the-top. I have remarkably thick skin (be gentle).

Fukurokuju (WIP), also a minor Buddhist deity (notice an emerging pattern?). He is a syncretic amalgam of three Chinese star gods, and a sennin (immortal hermit).

Doing a 3D sculpt of the Demogorge, a character from Marvel Comics. The Demogorge is the child of Gaea (Mother Earth), and was spawned to devour degenerate gods.

Nice work in here, man!

I think for the 2d/3d mix, there are some parts that still look a little 3d (feet in the first one, and the hands in the second one). So just try and be consistent with how much you're painting across the different parts of the image!

Thanks, big-misch! I will keep that in mind. I appreciate any and all advice. Sometimes I get tunnel-vision, and a fresh set of eyes are welcome.
