Alex - My Art Journey

Hi all. Starting this art journey from zero at 42 years old. I've always been interested, and never gave it the time it deserves. I now find myself dedicating time to practicing instead of playing games or whatever I used to do, but I don't know if I'm practicing correctly or in a worthwhile way. YouTube has a million different viewpoints, but I always feel like I'm missing key puzzle pieces. A lot of the time my questions revolve around "How long should I be taking to do X," rough line work, for example. I'm hoping to find those answers here. I enjoy Marc's videos, and found instant improvement with his tutorials. I am also hoping to find more of that here.
I'm a bit of an introvert, and as mentioned, starting from zero. So, forgive me if I don't post anything for a bit while I get my bearings and, well... learn to draw something lol.

Hi, Welcome to artschool.

Good on you for diving in. The reward system you can build in your psyche by progressing with a creative skill will replace the game dopamine and then some once you get going. Everyone here is very friendly and we all want to encourage each other and share in the progression so don't be shy to post your progress - even in the first stages. It will keep you going.

Also you'll get some kind feedback so you'll know if you are progressing well or not.

Welcome to art school Alex, one good thing about forums like this is that we all know how it is to start doing art, and diving in like that takes guts, there may come hard times where you feel your going nowhere and amazing times where everyday you feel yourself getting better and better, my advise, keep going, becuse, from my experience, I wouldn't trade that journey for anything in this world, we are all here to help you get better no mether where you start or where your art is at right now so if you ever need anything, you can send a message and count on me, cant wait to see you grow buddy ^^👍
