Hi everyone, I'm Alex. I'm an aspiring illustrator and developer. I've always been interested in art since I was little and have always loved drawing. I went to college for traditional art, but due to some personal issues and just not knowing what I wanted, I ended up dropping out and pursuing software development and graphic design.

Although I am grateful for graphic design and do enjoy it, I've felt a yearning for years that my true passion is in Digital Art and illustration. Thus, over the past couple of years I have really tried to start moving towards this path so I can finally create the things that I've always dreamed of such as video games, comic books, and animations.

Full disclosure I started term 1 before and had been doing the year long drawing challenge, but with the weekly schedules being introduced and just reflecting on my current progress, I thought that following these schedules and going back to Term 1 would hopefully allow me to get a better grasp on my fundamentals. I'm nervous, but excited. Been a while since I've put myself back in this situation. But that's my story, so thank you to everyone who stops by to look at my Sketchbook here. I want this to be the last time I restart this journey and I hope this assists in keeping me consistent.

Thank you everyone and Hopefully more to come soon!

Here is my progress on the Daily Work for Week 1 thus far. I've also been working through some Draw a Box work as well simply because I thought that it would help with some pen control and fundamentals. The Draw a Box work digitally is not great, but I'm starting to get the use of the Shoulder down and today, I was able to figure out a set up that works a bit better for me while drawing on the tablet so I'll take those small victories for now.

Image Adjustment Assignment 3-24-2023

This was harder than it seemed. I know my lower images are not where they need to be. I'm thinking of trying this one again, especially with the final image. I just got to a point where any corrections I was making were either way over corrected or just going back and forth with what I already had. Any suggestions for this would be great!

I've been trying to work with a much smaller brush size than what I was used to. I've been using a 3px for all of the assignments thus far, prior to that I was around 8px - 10px. I'm curious to know what is considered too big of a brush and where everyone else is usually running? I know I have to get used to using the smaller brush anyways, but would be interested to hear others opinions on brush sizes, cause it is difficult haha.

Anyways, thank you all for looking and if you have any feedback for me, I'd be happy to hear it. I know there's not much at the moment, but any tips or pointers for Term 1 and fundamentals I would also be happy to hear.

welcome to the forums!!

That depends on the size of my canvas  and how thin i want my lines to be so it kind of varies
