Hey, so I've been a bit busy with other stuff lately, but here is my colored character (the final concept sheet isn't quite finished though), and the thumbnails I came with for the illustration.

I would love to hear your feedbacks on the colors and on my shape choices.

I think I'm going to try with the Thumbnail 3. I feel like with the time that I still have to give to this challenge, it's a good balance between details and simple composition.

Not sure about your colours tho...but really like the staff !
If you have some time, maybe try some different colour scheme ? 3, 4, 5, more ?
Just quicky ones to see the mood it gives

I always repeat it, but as always this is suggestions.

I actually read your message just now, so I already went on with my color sketch. But I guess I might try a few different color schemes while painting the illustration.

I can see you like to have fun with (almost) all the colours

That's cool, experimentations and all.
A little thing if you feel you're a bit lost at some point, come back to greyscale...but i guess you already know.

it's really cool )))) maybe you'll try to add to this hero legs (boots) from the 1st variant? I think it would be great with this hood such kind of "unhuman" legs. What do you think? is it still possible to try? ))

Thanks everyone for the very nice feedbacks! Yes I tend to go back to greyscale quite often! I find it's much easier to work values in greyscale...
Concerning the boots, yes I might try that on the painting, and change it on the concept sheet if it works better! Thank you for the advice
Meanwhile, here is a sketchy line work for the illustration.

It could be even more epic if you put his left foot/leg on top (almost) of the sword (staff ? stuff ? whatever ^^) and his head directly in front of us maybe ?

Hi,
Here is my update for today! @mr_dessin I think you were right about his position, so I decided to put his left foot on the robot before him. Also, I added a little color.

What is the story behind that hole in his stomach with the egg (? or heart ?).
Sorry if you already said it somewhere ^^'

Otherwise...not really sure about his hand holding the staff...try to find a pose like this (or do it yourself with a mirror for instance).

Hey it's been a while since last update!
My render progressing.
You were right indeed @mr_dessin about the arm. I will change it a bit when rendering.
Currently, I'm rendering everything in greyscale, it helps me focus on the volumes and light. I will work specifically on colours once I'm done.
So here is the rendering of the head and bust of my character!

Hey, so here is my progress so far, I've been rendering the whole character for now. I still have to render the staff, the foreground and background and then, to work on the colors more specifically.

Hi!!
So my character and background are now fully rendered and colored! There's just one thing that I have to add to my painting : the power coming out of the staff! (And of course a few more details to fix)

Hi!! So I said in my previous post I would give a complete backstory when I'm done! So, since I'm finally done, here it is !!!

Akhiryonh is a half god. He was born from Saliyah, a Middle-Eastern human woman, and Daikhiryonh, the blue Lizard-Headed god of Elements.

Akhiryonh had a lesser power than his father growing up, but whe Daikhiryonh, his father, was defeated by the MRA (Modern Robotic Army), his blade, which contains the ability to master the Elements, was bequeathed to Akhiryonh.

Akhiryonh was very tormented after this, because of the pressure he had to bear from the Deity Assembly to avenge his father's death and to bring war on the MRA. He decided to look for help towards his aunt, Velganiah, the golden Firefly goddess of Celestial Beings. She told him that, as a semi-god, if he wanted to gain a full divine power, he would have to make a great sacrifice.

There was a special ritual for this that he could only do with the help of a real god or goddess. His heart and human organs would have to be torn off of him by a god and replaced with a very special rock : one piece of the deceased oldest god of all gods, Gainayah. This goddess's body remained on the highest mountain of the Divine Empire.

She made him practice is divine powers and gave him the strength and will to make this long journey. He succeeded and, when he came back to her, they decided to make the ritual. And so they did. Some semi-titans, semi-djinns and semi-giants had already made this ritual and managed to survive, bu no semi-human had ever passed this trial.

But so he did. So after his full restablishment, his aunt trained him even harder for him to go to combat, and she gave him a magic firefly shaped jewel with which he can call for her in case of need, during the battle.

The fight was hard, and many Akhiryonh's followers perished while fighting the mouthless robot soldiers. But Akhiryonh knew these sacrifices had to be made, for his family, for humanity, but also for gods, who also started to fear the machines.

And so, with this ferocious will of his, he finally destroyed the whole Robotic Army, using every elements he could: Water, Fire, Earth and Air became his allies, and he gave the world a few thousand years of (not always peaceful) divine monarchy.

So here is my final illustration. I finally went all colorful ( which is what I usually love to do ) so I hope you guys like it !

I also completed my concept sheet! There it is!

This challenge was an awesome experience and opportunity to learn a lot ! Thanks to all the entrants who gave me feedbacks !
