Hello everyone, I'm excited to be a part of this community art project. Captain Lightfoot is a concept I'm developing for this. I start my design work with work lists to help flesh out the concept before I start sketching, so my first post will be that word list (typed out, because sometimes even I can't read my handwriting) and then a brief description of what that list led me to.

This has led me towards a concept of a mech or fighter pilot in her flight gear or with her flight gear in front of or on her craft. I'd also like to include a bit of a 'meta' to her design by including a pin-up of herself on the fuselage of her craft. The idea here is that the ship is the 'Lady Lightfoot' and Captain Lightfoot is the pilot. I'm leaning towards a WWII-era look for the uniform and color palette (OD greens, muted primaries, etc)

I'll be following this post with another in a few days including some thumbnailing of the Captain herself as well as some ideas for her ship.

Here are some thumbnails towards the fighter craft as well as some possible poses for Captain Lightfoot herself, not the pinup on her craft. I'm leaning toward the Mech in the dead center of that page as well as the "Space Bike" concept beneath that. As far as the poses for the character go, I like the leaning ones (as if against the ship) the best, but I also like the hands on her hips pose as well.

I'd love to hear some feedback, I'll be working on thumbs of the details of her uniform this week, as well as some of the work on the detailing of the ship such as the lettering, insignia, etc. I hope to have a set of roughs by the weekend.
