Hello everyone!
As I am just pushing myself to get back into art and drawing on a regular basis I thought this would be a really fun way to stretch myself.
I have been a fantasy child through and through, ever since I first saw Lord of the Rings at age 7. So, for me when someone says fantasy one of the first things that pop into my head are Elves! Fair, wise, and a force to be reckoned with OR goofy shield surfing, dwarf loving, oliphant climbing bad-asses.
So with that in mind I wanted to design a female elf who is ready for battle, which actually (after googling reference material) turns out to be quite rare seeing as most of them seem to prefer string bikini's. My goal is to try and design an elven battle maiden who, while armoured up, still keeps her agility- which elves are known for.
So first I did a couple of sketching playing around with different armour styles such as typical soldier, ranger, warrior princess until i found a general idea of what I wanted to pursue further.
I found rather quickly I was fond of the Idea of the light plate on top while keeping the legs relatively free (design 4 being my fave) So I will now get ready to design a bunch of armour sets based on this idea!
To help me better decide on themes and possible decoration I drew out a few bow designs (a must have for an elf if you ask me) Although I'm contemplating a secondary weapon of sorts for close range combat, some kind of light sword or dagger perhaps?
Also 4 being my current favourite for its simplicity but I'm still in early stages so nothing is decided for sure yet!
Next up I will be working on the armour designs, face designs and some thumbnails for the composition of my final piece. So, hopefully I will be posting a lot here. So far tonnes of the entries look really interesting, I'm excited to keep watching peoples' progress!
Take care guys!
