This is where I'm at right now, I started an illustration, but the composition feels kinda awkward so I'm going to start like two more with the idea to finish all three of them and pick one. I really need pieces to build my portfolio so it shouldn't be a problem to make more than one for this contest. My biggest issue with this first illustration is that the ''main character'' is so small compared to anything else in the scene that he doesn't actually look very important. And the narrative is non existent as well. There is something I like about it though.

Trying out some alien bad guys. Not very threatening, I know.

Nope, not threatening but they look really interesting and a bit shady The camel and the giraffe(?) look absolutely cool with those faces

Probably gonna remove the helmet of the dude trying to escape.
Also yes I know something is feeling really awkward about the distance between the figures and the difference in their sizes. Will work on that.

Edit: It's just the fact that the creature to the right (his left) of the character is too big.

Ok I haven't posted in a while, apologies. I didn't have time to post but that's no excuse for not participating and communicating with you people more. Either way I wanted to post where I'm at right now. I might post my character sketches and different composition sketches I tried when I was starting this, since I forgot to post them earlier.
Tried to paint the portrait without going into too much detail and I think it worked out well.
So a bit of an explanation on why I removed the mount riding character - at first I felt the dept of the image was lost because the comparison of the sizes of the characters so I changed it. Something was still kinda annoying me and I think it's because I was just trying to occupy the space and other than that the character had no real purpose to me.
