Character
Genre: Fantasy
Character Name: Lucinda Blacke
Age: 24
Short bio: The daughter of the highly regarded Sergeant Major Cornelius Blacke of the Azrelite Royal Army, Lucinda grew up living amongst the common soldiers from a young age. With no knowledge of who her mother was and no siblings, she was left to fend for herself. Her father being a cold and calculated man, loved her, but was unable to raise the child and locked himself away in his study most days.
The barracks is not a friendly place for a child, and as she got older the men there began to look at her differently. After a few dark incidents involving Lucinda as a young adult, where her father ended up dueling and killing several of his high ranking officers, Cornelius enlisted Lucinda into every form of available army training in order to teach her to defend herself. Already quite agile and strong as a child growing up around a military base, Lucinda excelled in her training as a young adult. She embraced her new teachings and bested men twice her size and experience level.
Her lonely childhood, dark teenage years and her strict military training tampered her will and created a strong, independent individual that adapts quickly, and tackles problems ruthlessly.
At her young age of 24 Lucinda was already widely respected within the Royal Army, and even at times made an appearance at the Azrelite courts. However, women were not allowed to hold rank within the army, and this put Lucinda into a strange position. A talented fighter and strategist, but unable to prove her skill in battle. Her ambitions however went farther than anyone knew, and after spending years honing her skills, making a name for herself and gathering allies, she was ready to execute her rise to power.
Even though her relationship with her father was strained, she respects him immensely both for his rank as a soldier and the fact that he was always the single constant in her life.
Most of her other relationships were fleeting as her lifestyle and childhood did not allow her to build meaningful bonds throughout her life.
Lucinda hates weakness and is obsessed with not relying on anyone or anything in her life. Because of this she has spent her days and nights honing her combat skills, studying strategy, history and politics and using her unique position as an unranked daughter of her Sergeant Major father to build ties and have people owe her favours.
Here are some notes that I took on the character when brainstorming.
