Still no name, but I've done some more conception on this. I definitely want him to be a "protector of the wood" - and sort of have a motif of trees, and bark, and feathers etc. Working on those little details. Also, he is going to ride around on a giant battle owl. Yeah!

Coming up with some ideas for a final illustration. My thumbnails are super duper messy and crude so I hope they come across.
1.Tender moment.. hero stroking owl's head while they both are standing
2.action moment, hero is firing bow an arrow from atop flying bird
3. Fairly straight forward hero riding , full body
4. Action moment - dive bombing
5. Less wide shot of #2
6. hero flying, cam looking up at him
7. Action moment, flying very fast
8. Tender moment, hero resting on top of owl
9. Full body hero mounted and grounded
10. another action shot, but looking more down the bow, and aiming forward
11. close up of hero, looking down at extreme angle
12. tender and comedic moment.. hero is meditation, but owl wants to play fetch with stick

If anyone has any opinions, please share. Thanks!

Really like your concept.

I like the idea of 2, 5, and 6 the best. Kinda prefer the ones with a bit more action.

Both hands and both feet in the air for 10! It shows the full character, the bird well enough and even at this stage has a lot of motion. 10/10 ;з

Bow concept art, and linework complete.. started masking.. I want to name the bird "pakpak" which is just "Wing" in Philipino, but I think it sounds cool!.

I'm finished.. with two variations... 1 with some kind of "magic" swirlies flying around, and the other without. I sort of wanted to do one with that kind of effect cause the green really draws the eye, but i may go without.. not sure yet.'

Wow, really cool! Maybe if you would, draw those green magic things more aroun the arrow, it would give a stronger feeling of magic flowing in it

@berrysquare, thank you and I agree. The green magic was a bit of afterthought, and thus randomly thrown in there, but I liked the extra color it threw on the canvas, so I took a bit more time to integrate it more. This is for sure done now, I can seriously work on it forever, so I need to call it quits at some point haha. Overall though, i'm very happy with it.

Sorry if I commet to much, but maybe also make these last end of green things a bit transparentr, it gives the feeling of fading away?
