Good day to you all! Pretty sure this is my first art contest; hopefully this goes well and I manage to finish it on time 8D.
Let's start things off with good old silhouettes for Priest, aka "Father" aka "The Watcher". Truth be told, this shadowy figure has many names given to him by those that serve his whims, deep in the world of mercenaries, outlaws, and black market prize-fights.
A war has been raging between the empire of Artemos and the guerrilla forces of the Arcane Alliance, a conflict between magic and science. The High Council of Artemos has banned all use of magic (similar to the American alcohol prohibition in the 1930s) under the penalty of death (not-so-similar to the American alcohol prohibition in the 1930s) and throughout the war-torn nation there exist magical speakeasies where the persecuted magic-user can practice and sell their gifts with minimal worry of betrayal.
One of the biggest syndicates in the depths of Artemos' underbelly is the Brotherhood, an elite band of mercenary assassins, and the war has been extremely profitable for them. Priest is their founder and leader, and he and his dragon spectate each prize-fight as a talent scout of sorts to bolster the ranks of the Brotherhood.
Priest himself is shrouded in mystery and rumor, and many under his influence speculate that he is actually some sort of dark spirit or demon, or perhaps a disgraced war hero. He treats the coliseum like a cathedral, accompanying each battle and death with a great deal of ceremony and devotion to some sort of divine power. Capable of magic, Priest can become invisible whenever any sort of shadow falls across his body, as well as smoke/vapor manipulation and transformation.
Father of his very own church of blood, profit, and pain, Priest is a major character in my personal story "Artemos" and is without a doubt a deadly force to be reckoned with.
