I prefer the first one because I think it might look better with a faceless helmet (?)
Btw the helmet + hood gives it a Tali (Mass Effect) vibe, so I woud avoid blue colors idk

@jenniferbrincho Thank you, yeah, I choose the second one also. I find both of them good, so is more a matter of personal preference.

@kaleydoskope Thank you for your feedback. Actually I choose the second one to go now. Not much time left and need to get it started.

I thought of that while designing the helmets. I played all three Mass Effect games and really loved them, Tali was almost always on my party. For this design I tried to not make it much ornamented and avoid everything purple and dark. I did some blue color studies, but liked the red/orange more.

Now advanced a little the sketch, struggling to define what the secondary elements will be.

I like it! The way you balance detail is very skilled My eye goes to the explosion first, though. Maybe toning down the brightness a little would work? That's just me though. Great entry! Looking forward to the final piece.

Yeah, I was afraid that could happen, I'll tone it down a little and/or move to the left, hiding the bright part. Also, as friend of mine pointed, that ammo thing is not easy to read, so I'll change it as well.

I just finished the illustration. It's far better than what I had in mind when I started. Had to do a hundred pose studies to get something dynamic that I liked, that thanks to a friend who pushed me.

Now to the concept art sheet.
