@twistedxp yeah i'm assuming you've colored these in by a layer option, such as overlay. When you do that, your colors reflect on the VALUE RANGE of the layers beneath. I would just try to tweak the values Cheers!
@Steve_Kim Yeah I know. I was going to play with values more after I found my colors. Maybe thats not quite working for me lol
I know the value range is still garbage lol. I'll fix that when I settle on a color set and outfit. I decided to try out leather armor this time and I'm liking the feel of it a lot more, it's a lot more flexible.
Oh my god, leather armour #triggered4 looks alright... That's the problem tho, they all look alright to me, nothing jumps out
Yeah I'm kind of feeling the same. I dont wanna spend to much time playing witht them till i know its going to be final though. SO i'm kinda stuck
I usually wouldn't recommend something like this, but you could start the illustration and pull the palette for the design from there.
I've been thinking about that. I know that can sometimes over complicate things more, but maybe it will at least break me out of this rut
I like design 2 the most cuz it has that contrast on the colors, the violet is the best color there, really captures the eye, but like @yorieofthecastle said, it looks all the same, maybe because of the colors are mostly pale? But yeah, keep experimenting, put more dark blacks there and some super bright colors, maybe it would work Is he a mage though? a rogue? a warrior? I would love to know so I can suggest some additionals for the armor designs! Anyway keep it up, great work so far !
Thank you so much. I'm definitely still experimenting and I'll play with value and see if that help. He is a barbarian trying to be a mage lol
I'm back. I took the holidays to relax and let my mind clear and I realized why I wasn't happy with my orc. So i redid him and I'm feeling this version much more now
nice! the values are working much better now keep up! good to see you back
Heres the full turn around, might polish it up a little more before the end but I think i'm pretty happy with it so far. Just need to draw the how the weapon looks in hand and then I'll be starting on the illustration.
@Steve_Kim Thanks man!
HEHE like this a lot!! \m/Is this the final costume color? i feel you'll have to experiment with a mock-up scene to see how everything plays around. ( i've faced this dilemma quite a lot of times and ended up modifying the color palette so as to maintain overall harmony )
Thank you! It is the final color for now, but I have no problem adjusting it later . I'll definitely be playing with mock up scenes. If you have any color suggestions I'd love to hear them
Absolutely!
I found these :
Color temperature plays a key role.See what fits best ... cold tones or warmer tones.
I See what your'e saying. I really like how those use the main colors I got going. I'll try and figure out the whole color temperature thing xD Admittedly I'm still learning to use color despite understanding it alright. I usually stick to black and white or sketches so any tips are super helpful. Thanks
Slapped together three thumbnails for scenery. The orc and monster will change some these are just placement holders while I try to figure out a background and color
Loosely playing with the illustration, I may change it so he's not so directly slaughtering evil. I'm not sure yet.
I'm playing pretty heavily with color and style. I expect this to be completely different when I'm done xD
Love the idea and the pose, looks like he is slaying the shit out of that dragon!
Right that dragon didnt stand a chance
