I started with the front part looking more like a horse and then exaggerated the shape until it turned into a thing of its own. Also, the wrinkly lower legs were inspired by bird legs

I decided to put it all on a concept sheet format plus started on the head as well. It"s not a final composition of course, But I feel like it is time to look into the final illustration comp for now :smile:

maybe you can make the wings pop up a bit more, now they kinda melt into the bkg as the value is very similar..
