@rgdraw thanks:) I like it too, but I decided not to incorporate it. It felt like I was adding it just for the sake of adding it, plus it kind of killed the silhouette.
Here's a small update, I started the back part.
I love the shapes and proportions of your character. I can't wait to see how it turns out

Obviously you'll be the judge of it, but for what it's worth, I like both. The first one can have a really nice mood, but I'll agree with rgdraw and give my vote for the second one. It's a very close call though.
Just be careful about the 80% visibility rule (I don't think it's gonna be a problem, but something to keep in mind).

@rgdraw thanks! Yeah, I have a few days off so I'll certainly finish on time! I wasn't happy with the other illustration so starting fresh was the best move.
@sparksofdawn Thank you so much! I liked both too, but I had to go with my gut, which was the first one. This illustration is all about the mood, I think, so let's see what I can do with it.
