B feels very "douchy" it fits well for a villain
But if you want a villain that blends in and reveal later that he's the villain then I'd say A works best

Duuude thie silhouettes are awesome ! Really looking foreward to see your progress !

C seems like its the most authentic to the character. <3 just introverted, lame and tired as hell because hes working on his passion all the time... oh wait. i think i am that person. xD C for sure.

Good god the silhouettes  love them all!
A and C do have a more shy posture and clothing, maybe a combination of that with the other faces?

Thanks for the thoughts everyone
I'm finding approaching the illustration really difficult, I seem to have no internal vision of what i want this to look like :stuck_out_tongue:

However I might be getting somewhere with a rough story for the illustration, whilst I originally just had him terrorising people I might give him the goal of attacking something to try and disrupt the social order
I figured that maybe some sort of organic AI (glowy green thing) that runs the cities' infrastructure could be a target for him as it would be the culmination of the human behaviour he has always be exiled from and has grown to hate.

Oh! I really like the story you found, it could give something really interesting!
You should definitely go in that direction!!

no doubt whatever composition you chose is going to be stellar, however, i’m eager to see what it might look like if you did a shot of him in the cockpit/control center of his robot. Maybe show off exactly how his cyberpathy works : o

That's a great idea! That story sounds so cool!!!!!! :open_mouth:
Love the mech! Can't wait to see your final entry!

Good luck for finishing in times T-T
Really hope there will be an extension for the contest too xD

tell me about it I go to school, had to finish a lot of assignments plus I had to go to work  . Luckily, my term just ended so I can focus more on my concept
We Need extra time!

Wow so epic!
I look so ridiculus with my little trees! x)
I really hope you'll have time to finish it ! It's too good to not be finished

It looks sooo cool! I can't wait to see finished illustration

oops the most recent WIP was to large to upload :stuck_out_tongue: I am a fair bit further than my last post would suggest...

@rgdraw but those tree are so organic and vibrant xD I love scifi and fantasy, but I've been finding hardsurface to be quite challenging to make so visually appealing :stuck_out_tongue:
@tbrk good luck, I found I had to just jump in and stop second guessing everything.

Indeed no time to waste, probably not gonna do much iterations so I can finish this thing

Thanks dude!
I agree hardsurface are so hard! But you're doing so well right now! Keep up like that!!

JESUS. this pic kinda blew my mind. how are you so fast?! @o@

This may be end up being finished illustration; gotta make that concept sheet now... guess I know what I'm doing tomorrow lunchtime

@MODOF I did alot of what I'll call 'simulated photobashing'; using textured brushes and then selecting and copying chunks of my painting. This is most obviously used when I have repeated a slice to imply perspective and extra detail on a wall. But even on the robot himself, I painted one hand then just copied and warped it over to the other one.

Awesome work, that was quite the progress  Love the framing with the orange lights!
Also, although they're not the main focus - love the little guys running around (one of them kinda looks like a surprised Pikachu so bonus points for that :D)
