Hello, everybody!
This is my second participation in the ArtWar contest. Last year I created a hero, but this year I'm joining the dark side  . My character is going to be a fire-starter with a thirst for vengeance. The style is going to be steam punk, semi-realistic.
Brief Story;
The story takes place in Victorian Venice. Kiara was abandoned by her family and transferred to an orphanage. When a girl turned 14 she started to develop supernatural abilities. Fires started to occur frequently and pretty soon everyone at the Orphanage realized that Kiara was the reason. They started to fear her and had to kick her out on the streets to preserve their safety. Poor girl had to learn how to survive on the cold, cruel, and dark streets of Venice on her own, knowing only violence and betrayal. Her only friend is an old crow that she rescued from abusive street hooligans. As Kiara reached adultery she learned to control her abilities and became thirsty for blood and revenge. Anyone who dared to stand in her way of sweet revenge was burned to ashes. As such she became known as Flaming Lament!

Good luck everyone!

Hello and welcome!

I think of the three that you have there, the middle most fits with the idea and with a touch of villainy.

However, the outfits that you have there do not really remind me of the victorian period. I always think of it as having really absurdly useless clothes. Now you might want to subvert that concept and have her directly opposed to any victorian stylings, which is great.

But if you are interested, this link http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bMr5BfGK61U/TafOMugjyGI/AAAAAAAAAms/tFVvqm3Z9HU/s1600/1880-09+Petersons+fashion+plate.jpg has some interesting dresses in the image that look somewhat sinister compared to the normal victorian fair.

Anyways keep at it! I look forward to seeing what you do with this concept.

Hi, Peter!
Thank you so much for your feedback and help :)! What I'm aiming for is to have a kind of style that Bioshock infinite and Alice Madness Returns have, as well as a bit of Dishonored. I want the fashion to still be from Victorian Venice with a fictional steam punk twist. To be honest, I have never tried this style before and haven't had that much experience with creating villain designs so this is a bit of a challenge for me. However, I'm excited to try and execute it! I will be working on developing the middle costume further and hopefully will be able to make it look more like the Victorian steam punk style. Thanks again, and thank you for the link as well!

I think I like 5 the most from those, perhaps 1. But they are all pretty fun.

Thanks  ! Yeah, the 5th one is great as well! I will probably create a mix of the best ones.

I have improved the middle costume from the previous costume sketches. The last one is the one I'm thinking of going with. I've tried to make it look more Victorian style and more simplified. What do you guys think, does it look more evil?

Sure it can be more evil! I think most people would like to see a character with exaggerated hero or villain qualities and id love to see how your concept matures from here. (could also just be a case of being a rough sketch waiting to be refined, anyways keep it up!)

I do recognize that one as being more victorian, the frills and the black spots highlights the evil aspect a bit without going overboard. And I would think that she would try to hide the evil side of her as well. So perhaps you can keep it subtle and put the evil through entirely in her expression and use of power (like roasting someone). Give a creepy proper lady vibe.

Keep at it!

Thank you :)! Good idea, that is exactly what I was thinking .

4, the green would be a nice color contrast with the fire superpower.
check out triss from the witcher, she has a nice color scheme that compliments well her braise hair . If you want to push your design, flesh her personality a little more, and have it be reflected on the costume. Is she arrogant ? shy ? does she want to live concealed ? or burn the whole world (the latter considering your story) ? And use shapes and clothes to make her more extravagant or trying to avoid people's gaze. Does she want to be seen as human or is she trying to resemble more to a monster ? Maybe she identifies more to her crow than other people, if that is the case, she would probably prefer looking closer to the animal

Hope it helps

Thank you so much for your great feedback :)! I am trying to make her costume have crow elements. That crow is her only friend and the only living thing that she can relate to and find comfort it. I do agree on the green color scheme with you. I am currently working on the turnaround sketch and I am planning on adding more details and personality to her costume. Thanks again!
