THe challenge is superb and something worthwile, and I dont mean the prizes, but the result. Sure, everyone likes to win, but it is the character in itself that you can be proud of and know you did your very best and a little more that will be worth the time, struggle, late hours and all the things that make up the final result.
Creating a character is very rewarding and a tough and subtle job. For several reasons. FIrst, you have a vauge theme with alot of options, and you are thrown into the dark seas of choices. Second, if you join a competition, you want to really do your best and perhaps end up in a Place where your work will be the best, but this comes last, because artistic and personal reasons come in first Place. Third, the question. Which of the characters do you identify with the most and why? What is the Deep down governing choice to make it? It takes a time to figure that out. I thought of two characters. But the second one won over the first because of some interesting aspects to it. Words and images like anime, Japanese, katana, dual swords, Neotech, Blade Runner, Ghost in the Shell, synthetic heart, rain, Beauty and female were all at once dancing in my mind. So, the obvious choice was War Dancer Aiko which means BELOVED in Japanese and is a name for a female.
