My entry for team Fantasy, some things I'm going for:
- Heavily Art Nouveau inspired
- Slightly stylized, emphasis to try and create more curves
- Mostly clean with interesting design details and minimal wear.
- Using Marmoset embeds to give updates and show off the final presentation. I will have to make sure this file doesn't get too heavy.

Some concept Ideas:

Base mesh so far:

There is some lumpiness due to dynamesh geometry, proper base mesh will be coming soon and should fix that.

Reference/Mood Board:

A little bit of lore for those who don't mind that sort of thing, I thought it would be cool to incorporate the idea of Fantasy (Mysticism) vs Scifi (Technology) a bit into the story:

On a distant desert-like planet, there exists a race of humanoid beings that have a close mystical tie to unique, liquid-bearing stones. These opal-like stones are believed to be the elixir of the stars and consuming the liquid can alter your perception of space, enabling you to see and manipulate illusions. The desert dwelling race, who’s name roughly translates to “Opal Eaters” used the illusionary power to build and shield their civilization, however technological travelers threaten to destroy what they have built and steal the stones for themselves. Normally passive, the Opal Eaters must now fight back if they wish to survive.

Best of luck to everyone!

Hey glad to see you're competing. I feel the contrast between intricate designs and the clean open space will sell this model, as well as really nice looking folds.

I'm excited to see your progress, have fun!

Love the concept! The 3rd design is my favourite, the halo type headdress reads as more art nouveau I think :smile:

@lavitz Thanks! That's the hope, I've very excited to work on this!
@suiren-k Thanks! I didn't recognize you by your username Blair. Big fan of your work! I agree on the headdress round reads as Art Nouveau but part of me likes the pointed shapes of the other ones, thinking of doing a hybrid and mixing the 2.

Thanks again! Hopefully I can have some updates for today!

Fleshed out my concept, tried to take some of the best from every design. I also figured out that I really wasn't digging a skirt, it was making the proportions look strange, so I opted for a shorts kind of thing that are part leather, part cloth. Finding I like it much better.

If anybody has any further feedback I am more than happy to hear it! :smile:

Hey there! Cool start. I have to say, I was liking the skirt based on the lore (desert fantasy makes me think of flowy clothing, similar to Journey).

More about the lore; are they more tribal/ceremonial like witch doctors/ shamans? If so, could be cool with some tattoos, jewelry, etc. You could already have this stuff in mind, just spit-balling here. It might conflict with your Art Noveau inspiration though.

Looking forward to the progress!

@brice-o-roni Thanks Sean! I was thinking tattoos but I'm not sure exactly what I want to do yet, because I also have a plan to give kind of a crystalline effect on some of the skin and it may be conflicting visually. Another person mentioned breaking up the symmetry, I'm thinking about more jewelry or trinkets since they are definitely a little more shamanistic/spiritual. I'm going to have to have to explore more to see how I can make it fit. For the skirt, I do think you're right, it fits with the desert more. Some ideas are coming to mind on how to incorporate it properly, I will probably work it out in 3D though.

Thanks again! This is giving me more ideas on how to push the design further!

This piece is looking way good! definitely capturing the art nouveau aesthetic.

Great start! Looking forward to see more.

Loving it so far, and she's looking great! :smiley: I can't wait to see more.

I like it, the hair especially. I will check back again for sure :wink:

@verycrunchytaco Thanks! I should be updating with some progress soon, hopefully this weekend!
@itseffindan Thank you! I'm very happy with how the proportions came out:smile: )
@fantasymaster Thanks! Right now It's just a blockout, it will be pain to give it volume in the final version, but I have an idea.

Spent the entire weekend working out all of the hard surface pieces in 3Ds max to get cleaner geo, other than possibly some tweaks all of the metal pieces are pretty much done! :grinning:

Nice modelling! I think her headpiece almost looks a bit too large compared with everything else, her hair is already a big silhouette then the crown on top looks a bit out of proportion imo? Looking forward to seeing more!

Great stuff, I like this ornaments!

nice work keep it up !

@blair Interesting point, I'll have to look into it more. The hair is currently a stand in, so I could also mess with that volume more to balance it out once I get proper geo for it. Thanks for pointing it out!
@fantasymaster Thank you!
@independhans No you're fabulous! :wink:
@Seimax Thanks!

Thank you all for the support! I can't wait to share more updates!
