My very first post here so welcome, galls and gents. I hope to still meet deadline (although it will be rather tight) and if my insomnia will not leave me I might actually pull this one off.

Idea is rather simple- I was always fascinated with concept of angels falling from grace (war between angelic hosts and what not) so my character is one of fallen arch- angels- angel of death, Samael. Concept- as you can see- is based on eastern motifs, basically- lots of blades, lots of metal lacework (sorry, it looks like a grate from meat grinder on concept), flying censers and a bit mummy- like appearance. Adding a b&w version of concept since it is a bit easier to read than color- coded one.

Anyway- enough chit- chat, time to get to modeling.

Interesting to see someone using 3D-Coat for sculpting! It's going well, but still the surface is quite soft, maybe you can achieve sharper and deeper lines?

Thank you my lady. I will make sure lines are crisp and clean- it is a shape defining phase so I am not getting too deep into detail at the moment.

Base mesh in place. I am not 100% sure whenever I will keep his bird-like talons and legs or go for more "etheral" form but for now- that's how it looks like.

...and side note- it's kinda ironic how- when I attempt to do an angel- I end up with rather nefarious looking creature. Just my life.

Time to start designing armor. I've decided to make it a bit less ...umm... covering, since I am quite happy with the body AND it will play along much better with overal middle-eastern theme. Back to Blender for base meshes.

Blades prepared for lacework. Surprisingly annoying part, actually. I've also re- designed armor a tiny bit. Time for mail and severed heads (plus other charming details like that).

I am increasingly ashamed when watching all you guys and comparing myself to your work but... hell... that's where I am.
Working on details- base mesh for one of severed heads I am going to hang at his belt. Blender.

I've dropped the idea of having lacework in favor of other solution:

There was another angel in the seventh heaven, different in appearance from all the others, and of frightful mien. His height was so great, it would have taken five hundred years to cover a distance equal to it, and from the crown of his head to the soles of his feet he was studded with glaring eyes. "This one," said Metatron, addressing Moses, "is Samael, who takes the soul away from man."

Eyes. Living, translucent eyes, embedded into blades. I have totally no idea if I will be able to pull off the shader trick but I am gonna give it a try.

So- first realtime preview. Sadly I have not figured out how to use realtime preview required by contest but since I do not have hopes of winning, I hope I can be forgiven using this one. Goes without saying that it is NOT final version of shaders, textures or environment but it is workable one.
