Reference sheet

Welcome to the Sci-fi fam. Look forward to this.

Been doodlin' around for some time, came up to 3 ideas - hybrid, more samurai and more robotic.
As I'm planing to stick in research and development stage for couple of weeks, I will start to refine from most crazy and intresting - hybrid. Will rough it out in Photoshop and block-out and try some posing in Maya to see if idea is worth living.

Hybrid ( let's call it Concept-A ) design is coming along so far so good.
Thru process I figured out, that I will be building design around very tall thin female body/organism. When body proportions are layed +/- ok, I can proceed with any design - hybrid, more samurai like or more robotic. Also this sketch rised many questions, especially - is this type of weaponry or robotic hands will look good in dynamic poses. This one I will test next blocking-out and posing in Maya.

Ps. I'm also starting to think more about, who she is, what she lives for and what's her purpose.

Made a ragdoll in Maya and tested couple of poses. Design shows couple of major flaws especially with balance and over the top weaponry, also I would love to see it more versatile but it looks too robust. Guess I will leave Concept-A at this stage and try to develop Concept-B (more samurai like) as next one.

Went thru some serious design concepting stage lately, pushing it between triangle - samurai, sci-fi, giger.
Also modeled up test dummy and rigged it up for a test pose. So far design is working with some minor "bugs" like sholder movement issue, etc.

Looking back to concept-A (Hybrid) and concept-B (more samurai like) I came to conclusion, that for concept-C (more robotic) there is no time left, and I kind of like concept-B, as it have robotic features in it too.

From now on I will proceed with concept-B, that's my final decision.
Let's move to Zbrush for next phase...

Making some progress.
As I do hardsurface in Zbrush for the first time, laying out big forms and also sketching in rough smaller details for complete look and feeling of proprotions. Guess this week is the final stage of major tweaks in design before I go into next phase with color etc.

So far, character's desing pros&cons:
Pros:
- Siluethe is in its final state
- Proportions are in its final state
- Detail elements are +/- ok

Cons:
- Shouder detailing is not finished
- Arm protecting armor piece is not finished
- Hips and knees are not finished
- Head armor with headset piece is still arguable
- Still need to flesh out sci-fi katana

Ps. Time for retopo this beauty and get into serious detailing and polishing stuff.

Dropped some quick mesh to test poses (sorry for default(broken) skinning, good one will be made on final mesh which is in progress). So, which do You like guys?

Hi everyone. Here is my Final.
Olympia is a sci-fi samurai. When Xenomorph threat is at large, this special force cosmic
sanitarian lady will sanitize the problem with pleasure'n'ease. Frugality, loyalty, martial arts mastery, and honor until death - this is "the way" of her moral values, which she cultivate among the galaxies.
