Current progress!

Hello everyone. Finally, some awesome contest that i have been waiting. It has been i while...

After thinking about what should i choose, i decided to go with fantasy, i have never done character with this theme, so this should be fun.

I will try to make some type of summoner character, an evil dude who is doing magic stuff and summoning. If i have time i would like to do his summon too, elemental or something, we shall see.

I found these concepts online as some idea what direction i would like this character to go. I will not use these concepts as reference or copying this work in any way. This is just to get feel and to show you guys in what direction am going.

I will try to post every week progress of this character.

And for the end i wish everyone good time, this is gonna be awesome!!!

And yeah Sci Fi guys you are going down.

WEEK ONE.

I puled base mesh quickly and started blocking out the character, i decided to go with the pose from the concept art above. I am still trying to figure out the armor, i want to achieve that perfect blend of plate and cloth. Still very much in concept stage....

WEEK 2.

HAPPY NEW YEAR MY FELLOW ARTISTS!!

Was short on time this week but i managed to model in this arm. Detail pass on the end. Moving next to shoulders and breastplate.

WIP of armor i am making right now, i am having trouble with this one. Its hard coming up with the right shapes. I hope i finish this till the end of this week.

Thanks man. Sure.

So i model everything in zbrush, using dynamesh, zremesher and zmodeler.

1. I do the base mesh by pulling the dynamesh, u can see that on the image above.
2. Then split parts for the armor like: gloves, boots etc u can see that too on my concept up.
3. Then i will use zremesher for better topology, if i have some specific shape i cant get by zremeshing i can do manual retopo.
4. Then i use zmodeler to model. I use move tool a lot to move polygons around, also i go pretty low on polygon count and relying on dynamic subdivision to see how my mesh will look like when i subdivide.
5. Once i am happy with the look i subdivide and clean the topology, and then subdivide couple of times to sculpt the details in. I wait for that phase at the end.
