Looking good! Love the flowing shapes and the various sea creatures! Do you have a preference already or are you exploring more designs first?

@rgdraw Thanks! Here's hoping I show up better than last year :smile:

@joeypoolart Thanks! There are parts of all of them I like, but I'm leaning toward 4 currently. I still want to explore the headpiece a little. Next update will likely be that + some compositions for the illustration

You're welcome! Oh were there last year?! I was there too but seems like I missed your topic back then, not this time!
And it looks awesome! There's something really cool about n°1! And n°3 works great too!

9 days later

Finally had time to sit down and do some thumbnail sketches last night. They got a bit rougher as I kept going because I was running out of time before bed lol. Not 100% satisfied with the headpiece but its definitely moving in a better direction now

Oo these are all so nice, your lighting is well done. Out of these I prefer 3, 5 and 6 although it depends on the kind of personality you want to give her and the mood you want to convey. 3 is a really evil and sinister shot, with the dark and focused lighting whereas 5 and 6 are on the whole more forceably destructive. Something to keep in mind

Thanks! I was also feeling pretty strongly about those. I'll keep that in mind when I make my final decision. Much appreciated

Tiddies out in the 1st one!!
I really like how you're framing her in the 5th one with the moon. Blocking the light is a nice symbolism for her being, well... evil, dark and whatnot.

Awesome work!! They're all so great! 1 is kinda cute! But since we're suppose to show our characters in action, I think 3, 5 or 6 would work best!! :smile:

@morecado Haha I was feeling a little goofy with that first one and thanks!

@rgdraw Thanks! I agree with you, 1 is funny but it doesn't exactly fit the bill. Gonna put some color in them in a minute and see what happens

You're welcome! :smile:
Can't wait for the colors! And you should keep n°1 for later it's too cute and funny not to do it! :smiley:

Only just got to coloring tonight. Cleaned up the sketch a bit too. The main idea is there, but I might still play with the color of the glow on her headpiece since I'm not sure I'm 100% sold on the cyan. Her clothes will look less latex-y in the future as well. Regardless, I'm really excited to start rendering this!

Really nice! Great work! :smiley:

@rgdraw
@mr_dessin
@kriros
Thanks for the kind words you guys!

Here's an update. Mostly just figuring out colors/light, adding details, and separating elements. Her head looks a little large, so I'll be shrinking that down tonight along with her left forearm. That'll make it so I can actually bring the hand in the way I'm imagining it. I want to get the little tweaks out of the way before I start really rendering so it doesn't slow me down later.

Feel free to critique at any point as well

Great! Awesome progress! :smiley:

Another update, worked up the background a bit last night. Wanted to get some more done with the water but ran out of time. Will resume tonight, hopefully. That left most wave felt a little off to me, so I'm kind of playing with the spin direction as I go :smiley:

Great progress!! The left wave may feel that way because it's a bit too straight for a wave adding a little curve to it would fix it, but don't worry you're doing really great!! :smiley:

I think you're right, I'll warp it a bit to see what happens! Thanks!

That camera angle and the energy of your shot is amazing! Also great separation/readability of all the elements! Good luck with the finishing! :smile:
