Alright, 1 month left, let's GO! Here's the first exploration pass for the character!
Since I can't win, I'm gonna tie this all up to my Chroma Island project, so these are actually the Purple people from the island, hence the lineup! This is a race of magic users primarily so the context of the contest is a particularly good fit 
The Purple people are more like elementals than humans and their magic is really more of an extension of their own bodies. Their outfits helps to cover them but also serves as a way to contain their energy. The stronger they are, the more they have to contain and the more they need to cover. It's not needed for their survival though, it just helps them control the flow of magic better (silly comparison, but kinda like a bra - not needed but it makes running or physical activities in general more comfortable... so I've heard).
Anyways, lots of backstory I'll keep for YouTube later, for now here are my initial sketches for the race.
The one in the center will be to one I feature for the illustration. To start, I like to focus on big shapes/silhouette and I'm kinda digging it right now. Next up, cleaning up those lines, refining the design!

So they're elemental wizards? Nice 
Not sure if your still doing an earth character but I assume their bodies reflect what elemental power they can use? Seeing as the left character has like a fire head, she use fire magic. If the characters body is made of rock elements then they use earth magic?

Started work on the final illustration, super early stages! Lots of cleaning up to do, working on composition.
Little hard to understand without the rest but basically the elemental in front is melting the ground and the monsters are sinking into lava. Just a fun family friendly piece all around 
Thanks bro, yeah kinda like that except the earth one is just melted rock (lava)
Well that's not really friendly way to treat with monsters !
