I suppose it depends what the attack that's being defended against is. If it's a hail of arrows that guy's Swiss cheese - too many gaps for something to get through.

What if you swapped the guy to the other side of the dragon's head, so he's more underneath, like the bottom photo?

so i keep building up my image and came up with this variant

but it looks too cartoony for my taste, and i went too far from initial mood and color so i decided to go back and try color comp i choose before:

I love this.. the composition is really strong

thank you, man, ill work hard to continue strong:)

a little bit of progress: still working on forms and color

wonderful! But at first I didn´t understand that he is protecting her, now I do, and now I think it´s even more awesome

Really cool composition and colours !
It would be nice to see some fire sparkles (or something like that) next wings, maybe ?
It also could bright the most darkest places of your artwork (why not in the grass as well, just a little ?).

Good luck !

How you capture light is gorgeous

A lilttle bit of progress

As much as I love this, my friend, I still strongly feel that aspect of defence is weakly articulated in this piece! I see that dragon is shielding her from something that is falling above, but it just seems to me that she is not in a right place (not shielded enough by the body of the dragon, she is not bellow him, but lies near him hugging his head).
Perhaps you should play a little bit with composition and pose of a girl.

But still your colors and lighting are freaking amazing, no doubt about that!

Sorry, but I'm still not seeing the defending angle either. Either move the woman more under the dragon, or raise the wings up covering her. Wings are basically hands, maybe have them splayed out protectively?

yeah right  gonna see what can be done about it:)

The main feeling coming across is a warm, tender moment between human and dragon, but to me there is no peril. I'm not seeing this attack that the dragon is defending against. There's smoke coming of its back, but it's a dragon with glowing fire in its chest! That could easily be mistaken as just coming from the the dragon naturally.

Hope you don't mind, but did a paint over just to demonstrate more of what I meant earlier.

hey, there will be stones falling from above and the dragon is defending against them. thanks for reply. cheers
