Here's the latest sketch I pushed the proportions a bit more, but this is more or less the idea, It's very very rough mind you, so excuse the mess I normally wouldn't share stuff this rough but I figured it's good to document it, and show the process.

Here's a composition i roughed out based on an older design which I am now changing lol.

So I'm changing the design in the composition but I quite like the way it looks so I figure that the final will look something similar to this,
Excuse the art dump, I've been on and off and been on the fence about actually entering this contest but I think I will commit to it and finish out a design and a final illustration
Wish me luck!

this looks like it's gonna be siiiiiiiiiiick  good luck my man

I just checked you instagram and artstation... Now I'm even more excited to see the result !
Good luck !
(I can definitly imagine this giant as a Fromsoftware/Elden Ring boss :grimacing: )

I painted the character, but was still figuring out the design of him as he was lacking direction but i think it's mostly there. I am probably going to do the illustration in the next 10 days.
I took the past few days resolving and rendering some of the design solutions i came up with one problem was showing the character scale of the character and also adding detail to the weapon, so i had the idea that the electricity could trigger the axe to have a super magnetic field and the weapons and armor of old warriors buried in the sea and earth, would fly up and stick to the axes due to magnetic field generated and then they would electromagnetically welded on! I was super proud of that.
so now i'm excited to go ahead and work on the final illustration which will probably look like my rough concept, with the sunk ships and the character going for an attack, i also want to flesh out some of the ideas I've introduced and have thought of though they are roughly in now! wish me luck !

Wow! That just level up in the epicness so much!! Impressive!! Great work!!

He looks so badass, really nice design

Thanks guys! I'm still working out the kinks, it's getting there and I'm going all out trying to incorporate everything I learned recently!

Final illustration start!
i'm going to be also designing a gate in the back ground that looks like it's supposed to be protected. as you can see he will be in a vast sea with a lot of viking ship wrecks, and thunder clouds with lightning striking the ocean!
if i feel that i have the time i'll do more concepts I wanted to do an alternative view of the helmet to explain to myself how it looks and works, and where the straps are and the arm that has the lighting rods on it as well as the giant axe and stuff so i'll see if i can work on the illustration fast enough i'll go back and expand on those ideas and then hopefully improve the final comp!
I'm hoping to get a feeling of fantasy and epicness.
That's all for now!

I love the little viking helmets all over his equipment. Lighting giant is so metal I can't even handle it right now

Made some more progress starting to go tighter in the focal areas now...

The dynamism, colour choices and all are so cool :sunglasses:
Against what is the ice thunder giant fighting ?

Oh! The brief asked for an attack or defend but didn't specify if it had to attack something, So I chose to show that emotional climactic moment when the giant is unleashing his full might and attacking.
I imagined the scene starting off with the camera focused on his face, and rain droplets landing on his face and helmet which works to set the weather and scale of his face in this scene. His mouth would be moving rather slow to a frown or a growl and then the camera rapidly zooms back to show his enormous size, with lightning strikes going everywhere and some lightning getting attracted to his antlers and helmet. In the background you can see lightning striking the sea etc. etc.

I'm also planning on placing a gate of sorts that he's defending as he doesn't want his faction to be attacked!
So I guess He'll be attacking to defend a gate, and his enemies are the other faction entries-- it's war!
In my headcannon this war is the result of a bored God summoning legendary creatures, heroes and heroines from any time, place or reality and pitting them against each other based on their elemental powers just to satisfy his curiosity of knowing which would be the best one! Bored Gods are dangerous beings as you never know what they might do next on a whim.
I will also soon give my champion the Lightning emblem to show his current faction!
So those are my current thoughts and plans.

The scene is so intense !
It's even better with that description you're making of it

Why did I pick sea and a scene with endless clouds this is so much work lol
I'm also pretty terrible when it comes to painting scenes so I just hope I have enough days to try to keep fixing the mistakes I make.
