Old Man Winter has entered the battle.

Just doing a little staging here.

Trying to figure out a pose with some silhouetting.

Old Man Winter is usually depicted as a floating head more or less, so it's interesting to think of what he may be wearing. Robes? Boots?

Here are my thoughts...

1. Sort of menacing, has good presence, but I wonder if punching the ground is what Old Man Winter would be doing? It doesn't really lend itself to the character or towards the element of water, even though he'll be billowing out a blizzard.

2. Maybe too Golem like. He is old After all. Not really that interesting of a pose. Maybe more for the abominable snowman.

3. He's old, that's for sure. Maybe he's more of a wizard figure, but is this pose too feeble looking?

4. Sort of a nice middle ground, you still get some foreshortening and a combative presence along with that wizard feel. Staff or no staff? Leaning toward staff.

5. Basically a slightly more fleshed out #4, and my favorite pose so far. Seems well in his years but not feeble. The gesture lines seem to compliment one another, or rhyme a little better. Going with robes and boots with the staff behind for balance. However, I worry about not being able to see enough of the design of the character?

Perhaps the staging has prevented me from showcasing him? Am I hiding too much of him by having him crouch and lean in, or does it add action? Would a more upright pose take away from the story of the image?

Hey ! there's a really good start !

First of all, I think there's nothing wrong by doing a dynamique pose or showcasing your character in action. In fact this could be a good point if it's well done.
I think my favorite is the 5 by far, I love the human type/bestial pose in the design (I don't know if it's clear ?)
Also, I don't know if Old Man Winter is suppose to be a giant but I feel him that way. If yes you should accentuate that by resclaling the tree, and if no you should make the tree bigger - to make it more intentional.

Old Man Winter is typically just a floating head in the sky and is usually portrayed as having an ominous and almost ethereal presence. With that being the case, my intention is to make him giant. Maybe I should go even bigger, and sort of have his bottom half forming out of a swirl of snow/water...?

Just trying to imagine incorporating a little bit of that ethereal element along side solid character design and not just a floating head. But maybe completely solid isn't quite Old Man Winter?

I'm sorry I've miss your post in the flow of notification.

I'm not sure how is your progress, but I think it's a nice idea to make it even bigger. Also, for me, a solid body is something really interesting with your story. But it could be even better if you mix with some flowy snow and add some ice parths, to make him really unique. Maybe if he can control a snow storm or something like that.
