Initial sketch. He is going to be made of earth and rock having forest growing right on him.

I think maybe it's because it feels a bit empty right now. It maybe could benefit from having more foreground and background elements to add more depth and more interest.

But I think you have a cool idea right now.

Another sketch. Spent some time doing thumbnails, ended up having this, which I like a lot more than the previous version.

I've done 2 versions in colors and I'm a bit confused now. There is something wrong with the pink one, but I can't figure out what. The blue one isn't earthy enough. Can't decide which one to choose, or, maybe, even try something else.

It may be because you have too much contrast on the wolf, so he doesn't look enough far away. Or it could be because the overall scene is quite dark but the sun on the wolf face is very bright, also the river light is competing a bit much with the sunlight one ?
But surely the first one is the most interesting one for me !
Keep going it's really cool

Thank you for your comment! It's been lots of tweaking after I've done flats in greyscale, so I can see how I've lost all the proper contrast and values. But I was so confused with the thing overall, that I decided to try another palette.
I think that I'm going to make the overall scene brighter, so the lighting doesn't look this weird.
And you are right, there is way to much contrast on the wolf, need to figure that out

The contrast will probably resolve by itselft when you're going to paint, just keep it in mind ^^

Floating rocks are gone temporarily.

Final version! I enjoyed working on this thing so much, although the beginning was pretty tough, couldn't decide what the environment would be, what colors would look better. Also I started the actual painting at least 3 times, hating what I was getting. But once things got settled came the pleasant part of slowly painting everything in. And, obviously, the best part: getting all the sparkles!
Don't make good boy Sylvanfang angry! (might get hit by a rock)
