Greetings! I'm Anthony Gero (AKA Mulcimer) I'll be attempting some creature design for the water faction! Leaning towards the offensive, but we'll see! Definitely want to stretch my legs and see what I can do!

Here are some explorations I'm doing. I definitely want a monster of some sort, and I'm working on creating something that is an amalgamation of different spooky marine life.

The main crossroads I'm coming towards is whether or not I want something humanoid or not, which is currently what I'm concepting out to make sure that I'm heading in the right direction.

Once I do that I'll move onto some more exploration sketches and get some thumbnails going!

I went in a different direction, but still kept with the 'Kaiju' theme! I did some preliminary sketches along with some exploration as to what exactly this thing is and how big it is when compares to regular humanoids!

That's cool !
I love the way your creature isn't something we can really relate on, as well as being gigantic.
Maybe you should play a bit more around with the perspective ? Also be sure we can see enough of your design on the final illustration.
(Don't forget the water symbol!)

Ahaha, I tried to frame it as a mixture of a coconut crab and a dungeness crab, but it still ended up looking alien Still got a lot of rendering to go to make it look like that!

You're onto something with the framing! I definitely want to show off more of it, maybe expanding the frame of the pic so we can see more of the carapace will help? That would kill two birds with one stone, since I could have a canvas of sorts to put the symbol on

This could be the solution !

But if you do that straight like this you would probably loose a bit of the gigantic impression. If it happens you could compensate it by lowering your point of view but this would add even more work

More progress. Got some awesome feedback from a mutual on discord and I started messing around with the perspective of the piece as well as the monster! Definitely feel so much better about this one. Gonna take this one to color.
