slowly trying to figure out lighting and colors

Hey !

I'm glad you've changed your thumbnails, it look so much better like this.
Really cool character ! Keep up the good work

thanks! that's nice to hear, I may still change the pose to really nail down the attacking feel

So I wasn't feeling confident about my design so I did some sketches and came up with this, I realized I hadn't incorporated the element emblem in the previous design

The shark inspiration of the design is way clearer in the second one. But I feel like there's something missing, maybe you could play a bit with the head ? Or go heavier on the other parts ?

hmm like adding scales or something to the head to make it more like a sea careture?

Yeah maybe, you could also go for a shark tail instead of the legs and make some mermaid. A back fin ? Make a fusion between the swords and the arm .. These are just some random idea I have right now

8 days later

Haven't worked too much on this in the past week, been doing studies to help with the illustration but I did a little mockup of her face

I really want to work on the illustration but I didn't feel the design was really there yet, so this is the result and I'm gonna work on the illustration now

Made some changes to my composition and this one seems manageable

Slowly getting the values down

Certainly this is too late to talk about it...but feel this one was more impactful than your last.

Good luck on the finishes !

Thanks I hope I can make it turn out well

A friend of mine showed me an easy way to use different layers to set up the colors and lighting and I gotta say i'm grateful he showed me

Nice change on the composition !
If I could say something, be careful with the readability of the legs, it's a bit lost with the sword and the cloth. On your first sketch it's very clear which leg is where but on the last step I was wondering how the pelvis is turn and which leg is the frond and which is not

Is it mainly because of the values on the last pic not being separated enough between those things?

Yes theres a problems with the values which are to close, but also different shape which cover each other like the cloath the sword and the leg, also your fx which cover the end of the left leg and the cloack which could be closer to her body on the back.

Still trying to figure things out, haven't worked on this much since school started

I like the composition . next, you need a render ...

Ya I've slowly been working on that, which reminded me to post progress
