Here are some composition sketches for my character that I still don't have a name for yet. I did however write her 2 backstories.

As you can see I experimented with 2 directions, one is fantasy and the other is scifi. Sketches 1-5 are sci-ish portraying the science experiment gone wrong in a glass domed secret laboratory/street urban area. The remaining sketching are set in the mystical forests of Hatshepsut in East Mongolia giving a more magical vibe.

What do you guys think? Which approach/comp do you like most? I feel like for the magiccal ones I'm missing a prop, an orb or a staff of some kind because it looks kinda dull with her just using her hands for water powers.

I really do like the sci-fi theme with the bad ended experiment theme, It get less contrast but I feel this is the most natural environment for her.
I guess the 1 is a really good composition and I love it, but I feel like the 5 is more suitable because we are seeing her in action

I really like No. 1 the most from a visceral perspective. The only problem is it might not fit the contest purposes compared to your other composition ideas.

No. 2 is similar to No. 1, and you can tweak it to feel more like an offensive action shot without changing the composition too much.

Otherwise, picking a different concept might be best. 5, 6 or 7 could work.

Yeah 1 is my favorite as well, but she is attacking in 1 by taking the water out of the floating bodies behind her isn't that enough to fit the rules?

Well... it might still work. It does showcase her powers and embody her element, which may be enough. I think because of how it's framed and her position in the composition, it doesn't feel dynamic enough. (It might also be because she looks like she's posing for a fashion model magazine, with how she's posed and how she's smack-dab in the middle like a magazine shot. Might just be me.)

Go with No. 1 if that's what your gut instinct feels.

ohhh you do have a point with the pose thing. I'm trying to make her look as if she's walking confidently away from the people behind her, but I'll sketch other different ways of how she could be that would look more dynamic. thanks!

So I went with the first sketch and added some dynamic poses to it, as she seemed a bit stale. In 1 I'm going with a more confident, sinister vibe where she doesn't need to do much effort to defeat her enemies. In 2 i made a more actiony pose.

Which one do you like more?

Also, number 2 looks unbalanced like she might fall over. Number 1 is more powerfull ever if it is more static. I might be wrong, both would probably look good when rendered. I guess it's down to what you like
best.

I went for an anime-ish pose for 2, I guess I should start rendering, I haven't had any free time and the deadline is super close but I'll make sure to finish this on time, thanks for the feedback!

I like 2 a lot it bring energy maybe work on that one also remember that the brief said your character should be shown attacking or defending idk but for me it’s a little unclear

I went ahead and further refined the lines of Fayrouz. I've also decided to go with that name, it means blue in Arabic and i think it fits her perfectly!

I don't think I'm satisfied with any of the water lines here, I tried doing a spiral one that wraps around her, and others on top that are holding 2 enemies in the air. I think it needs further balancing out what do you guys think?

I think perhaps it needs more varied shapes in the water. You have a lot of tiny, thin streams whereas water in reality flows with many different kinds of shapes. You could always try incorporating larger more wave like streams, or even some foreshortening with some streams passing near the camera

Colorssssss finally! So i experimented with 4 moods here, i'm leaning towards 1 or 4 the most, it's really close to what I have in mind. Which one do you like the most?
