Same for each piece and the shield, I did a lot of research and saw thousands of images, taking heavy inspiration from each darksiders book and concept art, and combining everything I loved !!
Unfortunately ( or fortunately for who wants a tons of refs ) there are skulls of all kinds in every shape and pose, even if I put the horns on the head it would be very close to another, if I cut them off it would be similar to another one... it's a skull shield with horns
I will definitely try to make it more different, removing the symmetry or removing / adding elements, thanks for the feedback man !

I want to post a " little " update, little but important, following the feedback received I change the design of the shield, I needed to do a step back... but now I'm super happy with the result, and I'm moving to detail.

in the meantime I started retopology, wanting to make a realtime character for games I will have very strict limits, will be looooong and hard but I really think that a good tolopogy makes the difference... my face while I repeat this to myself

heeeeeeeeeeeeey guys, I'm not dead, I'm just blocked in the retopo/detail stuff, but I'm finished and now I have just to tweak some stuff on the props and then I'll be ready for bake/textures !!
So... I'm happy to show the final sculpt
I also thought about the fire symbol, made it an alpha and used it as a scar ( which will be on fire in textures ) on the shoulder !
following my plans tomorrow I'll finish the low / UV, and then the rest of the time textures !
@Erigo Hey man thanks !! I'm from old school, I don't think a GOOD topology for game should be done with the zremesher, mainly if it's for portfolio and you want to show it

keep the polycount quite low, less than 30k for the char ( I don't rly need more ) and two 2k textures for the bake
I tried to upload also a little little video but nothings, there is a restriction for video ? it's a .mp4 around 5mb !
Anyway, finally it's time for the textures

I'm glad to show the " close to final " result of the textures process, he's still wip but close to the result I want.
The idea was to focus on the glow map, that had to add a lot of depth and interest to the textures and give the idea of the element, so I spent a lot of time creating a setup on substance painter to "handpaint" the glow and precisely see how it came, and I found a very effective way that given the result I was looking for !!
This is a screen with just two side light, just to show the glow map
And this is the mood I want to give with all the lighting
Now I want to create two different poses, fix some textures things after the pose, then create a plane as a base and make a decent render ( all you see is realtime in marmoset ).
I'll try to add a lot of epicity and darksiders feel to the scene
