The Ever-Burning might not be the strongest warrior in terms of raw power, but given he can shrug off any incoming attack, does it even matter? Many tried to put out Heatforge's fire, but nobody succeeded.

Before beginning to work in 3d I decided to make some concept art in 2d. Here's my process.

First I needed to make the ref sheet that would help me with inspiration, forms and mood.

Main sketch created in the iterative way defines the idea and mood of the character.

Same sketch but with some details. This is the Ever-Burning's usual defense pose. My principal goal was to demonstrate Heatforge's utter lack of interest in his "wounds". He just doesn't care and calmly waits for the moment to beat the attacker up.

Spent a couple of hours to create base body mesh from scratch (just to understand body forms better and learn anatomy a bit more).

Today my goal was to redesign head part so it attracts more attention, I stopped with two options, let me hear your opinion, which design you like more. (: Or maybe you like the old one.

Made head base sculpt. I think this is not a final version, but it almost represents what I have in mind.

Just made some rough armor blockout. I will use it not only for modeling, but also for Marvelous Designer simulations as morphs.

So, I finally built up from new year party, so it's time to continue working! Here's some clothes sculpt, I tried to use Marvelous, but it didn't gave me that semi-stylized looking clothes that I want, so I decided just to sculpt it.

Here's the large-mid shapes I'm pretty happy with.

Cant decide what to do with his legs, there is two options: leather boots or footclothes with metal plates above. Let me hear your opinion if you have one!

is perfect for adding some fabulous textures. I'm sure that when you do, the character will take on a life of its own.
