Hi Sebastian, Both very good designs. I like how you integrate subtle themed elements without going overboard with it. I do think overall B looks a bit more original. Although you did a very good job with the theme based details in A, the global design is a really obvious gladiator and therefor I would go for B. Looking forward to you next designs!
@prinzmoana, I wanted to see how a more Β»finishedΒ« version looks. Because in some of the previous designs, I had trouble imagen them in different angles and poses. And I have to make some adjustment to A, the lower part of the character is a bit crowded.
Thank you br00dley, interesting to hear that! B felt less Greek to me as well, although I didn't know why. But where you mentioned it, the design definitely has a more Egyptian feel to it. I think I already have some ideas on how to fix that.
Thank you @hanomrno. The Romans implemented some elements from Greek, but I don't know if that's the case with armor. As for B, I think it's more the design of the mask and shoulder piece that could read Egyptian to me. But I will look into the scepter as well.^^
Glad you like them, sometimes it can be hard to decide which is the better design, but I have to agree B is the more original on.
I think both designs can be pulled off as Greek with proper patterns and material textures. That said, I like the shape variation and feel of option B better. Option A seems to have overwhelmingly large amount of small details that distract from the main focal point. Hope that helps. Awesome iterations btw. I like watching you progress on this.
Thank you for your feedback! I decided to go with B because I like the silhouette more and I'll definitely look for some cool greek patterns for him.
Like that you're going with design B, it's really original. I believe that at a first glance, design A looks more "greek" to me but B could be just as good with the right setting. Can't wait to see what you're gonna let him do =) Keep up the good work! Good luck!!
Finally done with the design phase. I'm quite happy with the result, but let me know your thoughts on the final design. Meanwhile, I'll start working on some sketches for the final illustration.
Yeah! I really like it ππΌ Perfect amount of detail in my opinion Also the colors and shapes are pretty appealing.
That is a really great design! If I would have to give some feedback I would exaggerate the shoulder piece a bit. I think it is a really nice touch that makes the design unique. I think it could help to make the lower part lower and the higher part higher to give more emphasis if that makes sense. So al little bit more like in the sketch. Other than that fantastic job!
I love it! I like how you incorporated the blue and white scheme. I find it work very well by having the champion like some sort of statue with blue robes, plus the gold adds a nice color accentI'm looking forward to the larger illustration
Very nice design and implementation! He really reads like Greece now.
This is it dude! Love the design one! =) The moon pauldron is just the bomb.
@prinzmoana @studio-petercools @hanomrno @WeirdOwl @Lainon, thank you all! Your comments helped me a lot with the design and I'm glad the character is recognizable as someone from Greece.
And @studio-petercools thanks for the feedback. It does look better in the first sketch, so I'll definitely adjust the shoulder piece.
Some thumbnails for the final illustration.
A or B. Focus on the character rather than environment. More intimidating posture works well.
I like A and D especially because they depict him as somewhat attacking. πB looks great, but for the competition to work you could make it look as if he manipulates/hypnotize his enemies due to his incense? Like some sort of attacking xD
A and B both look amazing! Definitely go with one of those two. The final design look great btw
B but maybe in a portrait composition and with some power/elemental effects.
