In the old times, sweet food were given to her in order to convince her not to eat carefree children. As she love to eat sugary food and tender meat (children’s meat is the best), she never leaves her house without candies (to eat, but also to lure children) and her dear plover Dentista, who cleans her teeth. She also has two magnificent Murucututu pets, who help her stalk and catch children. Agile and flexible, she likes to climb on roofs or other high places, and from there, she searches for her next victims.
Nowadays, her myth has disappeared, so have her tales. To survive and stay inconspicuous, she only goes out during the carnival. It’s the only time where she can hunt and stock enough food for the rest of the year. Very protective of her country, she only attacks tourist’s children.
In order to go out during the carnival, she dresses up her crocodile head into a mask with the help of strings and decorations. With her charming appearance, she puts parents’ mind at peace and she offers sweets to children to lure them far away from their parents. She never eat children’s eyes, but gives them to her Murucututus who favored them. Before eating children, she extracts their souls and keeps them trap into coconuts. When she has to defend herself, she uses them.
Physical appearance : two appearances : → one charming, comforting, used to lure children and gain parents’ trust : tall, agile, a few scales on her body
→ one scary, agile but dis-articulated creature : it shows all the time in her shadow?
COMMUN POINT : crocodile head framed with a little mane, crocodile tail hidden under her dress
Equipment : carnival costume → leotard, veiled half skirt that goes up a little in the back (scales imprint to hide her tail?), her 3 birds form a colored headdress on her head (plover in the center, Murucututus on each side), epaulettes with feathers which complete the headdress
Weapons : teeth and tail, children’s souls, staff used as a catalyzer → in pernambuco wood, coconuts strapped on it with strings, decorated with guarana fruits, acaï leaves and a little purse full of candies
