Attempting to design a champion to represent Singapore.
Singapore is a fairly young country and has a multi-racial population. Because of that we do not have a strong, homogeneous cultural identity when you compare us to other countries in the region. I feel that you either choose to represent all of our races in one design or none at all. Because of that, I have decided to concentrate on a few other elements that are more known about Singapore.
First, I think the Merlion is quite a recognizable mascot of Singapore. Thus, I intend to feature it or at least the lion and the fish motif to a certain degree in my designs. Second, I was thinking of basing the overall anatomical structure of the champion around Joseph Schooling, our Olympic swimming champion. Third, I will like to incorporate some aspects of our futuristic architecture designs into the character's armour/prop design.
