Finally got a design down for my character!! Going for a Welsh magic user.

Gonna be going for white and green for the outfit and a red dragon as a familiar. At first i was going for a full fantasy elf mage but felt it didnt represent Wales. So I went back to the drawing board and looked at some celtic clothing and incorporated taht into the design.

Wasn't happy with that idea (mid top) it felt like a too generic design. Then came design three which gave me some big Sherlock Holmes vibes :stuck_out_tongue: So I put that design to the side

Then I finally settled on the final design at the bottom. Went with a travleing mage with tight clothing to keep them warm (seeing as Wales is cold during winter) face paint, and some leather boots. I'll be incorporating some tartan patterns in places like on the underside of the skirt.

This is just a base design so i may change it as I start sculpting

17 days later

got a super rough block out on this one. havent had much time to work on her but hopefully i will in the coming days  basing this character on celtic clothing, which from what ive found is a lot of fur and fabric. There's not much about Wales from back then unfortunately, so I'm having to go with what i can find and taking inspration from that.

This character is going to be a magic user, so I'll be making a staff and as the Welsh flag has a dragon on it, I'll be adding a dragon familiar. Not too sure on what size the dragon will be yet.

The welsh flag in just green, white and red so i'll be using whites and greens for the main colour scheme of the character and having the red come from the dragon.

need to sort out some anatomy on this one, but im super happy with the block out so far

Slowly getting things done on this character, but they are getting done! Did a little more research and found there's a lot of music in Welsh history and that a triple harp was one of the main instruments used. So I've changed my character to fit that bit of info more and although she will still use magic to a degree it will be in the form of music, like bards within rpg's.

I've tried to show that a little in the symbol on her corset by having a dragon as the main focus but have its tail make the "skeleton" (?) of the harp. Most of the character will be quite plain in terms of sculpting, so most of the deatil will hopefully come through in the textures.

Got her trousers and belts done today. Still need to add the corseting to the side of the trousers and also some wear on the belts

I was going to have the fabric around the legs corseted at the back, but decided to have them sewn and held more in place with leather wrapping.

working on her face and hair today. i dont know what it is but i cant quite figure out what is wrong with her face at the moment so im hoping some time away will help with that

I know i dont need to do retopo on this, but i always find it easier to work with a low poly mesh than a high one, especially for texturing and rigging/posing. I'm not looking to make neat topology with it, just something i can use later.

1 month later

been super slow on this one cause of life stuff but with only a few days left im putting my head down and focusing on getting this character done

managed to get her retopo done. It not the best but im mainly going with how the character looks over it being neat
