My champion will be from China and will be represented by an ancient warrior who appears according to the lunar year. This year is the year of the Ox so I will work on a design that incorporates it. In the next stage, I will be to think about the key aspects that define the champion and I will look for references.
These are some of my references based on Chinese culture to start thinking about my character design.
Some sketches to get an idea of what the character will be like. The first thing I want is to think about the structure of the fighter's body, to know how I will design the armor that he will wear. Since he represents the Ox, I want to make a strong character. I choose the second one, the bodybuilder type because it will have a better appearance when wearing the armor.
Another iteration of the concept, this time trying out hairstyles. I have decided on long hair because it reminds me of old martial arts masters and can give him an interesting look.
This is the final concept that I'm going to try to model. I have added the flag colors to the armor and reserve some changes when I see how it works in 3D. Time is short and it's a big challenge.
My man. This is an amazing work! Keep in going!
Thank you!
Starting the model with the body.
Quick armor and clothes blocking to see how the concept works in 3D
I have continued creating a kitbash of pieces for the armor and giving complexity to the boots, greaves, and poleyns.
Belt and armor of hips and thighs.
Another part of the armor, the breastplate...
Pauldrons and vambraces pieces
Some accessories like the gourd for liquor, a medallion with the stars of the Chinese flag, a headdress for the hair, the halberd (Guan Dao), and the saber (Dao).
All the pieces together plus the clothing parts visible in the concept art. Also a bit more definition to the character's face.
... like how?😂 how long did this masterpiece take you? Really amazing 🔥
Thank you for your comments @prinzmoana ! I have spent a couple of weeks with sculpture in my free time. There is still a lot to do and the extension of time has been a blessing haha. I will try to advance these days as much as I can to see if I can manage to present it properly.
I had not published anything for a long time because I have had little availability to continue with the project, but here I put a large number of screenshots of the texture baking in Substance Painter. I used the topology that I had made in Zbrush, which although it is not the most optimal, serves the final purpose and allows me to move on.
Wow man, Love your art. Keep on it!
Thank you @josecutillasg !!
