so i just want to make sure ive got it right;
but does the Light & Dark theme mean we either have to do something which is light-hearted, lovely, heroic etc. for the light and then Agonizing, Sad, Brutal, evil , creepy things for the dark?

No, you can choose whatever depiction of Light and Dark you want. The only criteria you have to fit are the ones mentioned in the brief in the Art War topic.
PS. it would be also best to ask further questions there - so that other people can easily see them
