Love the idea! But the pose of the archon is a bit odd, In your references you can see when a pose ir or realy dynamic or realy static! try to sketch something like that!
Also, for the character design, it would be cool if both, the archon and the summoner, share some details, something you can related them.

Great artwork so far, and I love the concept as well (very original!). I do argee with racnos to let summoner and archon share some details, it would make them a more cohesive character.

Thanks racnos and evehartman! I agree, having some shared details between the two would help improve the final design a lot. I will also rework the Archon's pose, too.

I really appreciate the comments! Not only are they encouraging, but know you've got me thinking! I have to do some sketching because I have some cool ideas for a very dynamic pose for the Archon/Summoner! Thanks again!

OK! After a break, I went for a redesign based on the feedback here and some ideas I had. I redesigned the Summoner, giving her clothing I liked better than my original concept, making her more dynamic, and adding a connection to the Archon. The "horns" around her head/face will be made of light and slightly transparent. This should indicate that she is somehow magically connected to the Archon she has summoned.

Here's the new Summoner sketch:

The Archon will be in a similar pose to the Summoner, showing that they are "connected". Instead of her floating, she will be on the ground with him looming large, almost enveloping the Summoner.

Yes, this one has a much more dynamic pose for sure. I suggest you to tuck the neck in a little bit cuz it looks too long. Good job btw

Sorry for the lack of updates lately. I am in the midst of re-arranging my office in preparation for new work heading to me this February. I should be back in the game in the next few days and will (hopefully) have updates forthcoming next week.

This is looking really cool so far. The tilt of your hero is a bit much for my eye since there is no clear horizon line in the scene. I'm looking forward to seeing how this one turns out.

Well, I hate to do this, but I must drop out of this contest. Unexpected, though much welcome, work has come my way and I find that I will not have the time to complete this image ... not in time for the contest, I'm afraid.

I can't wait to see everyone's completed work and find out who the winners will be!
