After some time away from working (because of school) I had gotten to this point in the first picture and decided that the concept just wasn't working so I started over entirely.
I reworked the story idea I had in mind and set up clearly the character in mind. A male character whose god, a god of light, raised him from the dead to be his champion of light during battle. I still played with the idea of his head being partially gone or entirely gone.
Eventually, I really liked the idea of having the top of the head returned but different. His eyes permanently closed and his only sight is the third eye on his forehead.
I also still want to keep the sun iconography along with the fairy themes. So currently I've chosen my favorite sketch and I've been playing with how I want it to look.
