I suppose its update time. For a good while I've been wanting to try my hand at sculpting but having zero experience never felt like buying the tools/materials just to end up not enjoying it. Then I remembered I owned Tilt Brush VR and never even really used it. I know its not sculpting or even 3D modeling but figured it might satisfy the urge. So I started something easy and what's easier than pokemon?
This was an absolute blast but it left me wanting more control. I thought I'd try out the zbrush trial but decided to wait until I'm ready to put a serious effort into modeling, if ever. Luckily Adobe Medium VR isn't too pricey and looked really intuitive so why not.
This time I jumped straight into the deep end and tried a human male. Feeling pretty satisfied and slightly hyped at the result I then used one of my previous thumbnails to try to pose and turn him into something. Clearly I was getting ahead of myself and stopped before doing anything really substantial.
Okay! Let's back up. Time for something low stress and easy. Learn the software a bit more. Whats something easy...
Buff ant alien Charizard that's what!
Alright so I've started mapping out a workflow but I want to have that 2D to 3D experience. So here I whipped up a quick page of ship and vehicle thumbnails. There's nothing special about the designs, I just chose ones I felt would push me.
Here it is rendered without my Medium paint job
For this one I tried staying closer to the sketch design
Again rendered without my paint job
At this point I'm loving this especially since I've been too busy for much VR these days. The hell with it let's get zbrush and try the big boy software. Here's my barrel for Term 3. As for the bust I tried a woman from imagination that just turned out looking like Jill Valentine. I'm not too fond of painting in zbrush so I'll have to circle back to that another time. Once again feeling hyped and confident I used a previous thumbnail and tried doing a full model.
Overall I'm quite pleased, a little addicted and above all else exhausted. Now brb while I set up a couple 3D printers.
