Finally done with the character line art studies for term 1. The hair on this character took me the longest time. 🥱😪

Haha, the trick is to copy and paste… and to adjust it to the specific wall and perspective of course. So, no, it didn’t take me too long

Week 8 Assignments
3 environmental copy studies and one 2 point perspective street corner.
Finally completed them all. I’m tired now and it’s late so I’m going to go get some rest. 🌌😴

I’ve been gone for a while now, due to an extreme cold that (almost) my whole household caught. Now that I’m over it, I’m trying to ease back into drawing. I’m not too proud about what I’ve done for these assignments (some more than others) and I feel kind of rusty, but, surely, I’ll get back into it. Here’s some stuff from week 2 of term 2.

Don't worry, sickness happens and it does affect us. I remember I was also not happy at all with some works I did while sick. These look good though, and even if just as exercices, it's good work.

WIP portrait study as I wait for my device to charge. Crazy coincidence, the last time I’ve really drawn a portrait study was exactly today of last year (April 21, 2023). My progress is crazy

No ref head drawings for term 2 week 3
I just tried to put some fun into these by drawing heads and features that I don’t normally draw/include when I make character heads. For example, the lips, I never really ever draw them. I decided to put an exaggerated spin on some features as well.
I personally think that I need to work on drawing hair. I find it hard to think of different hairstyles… I’ll work on it though.

I personally think that I need to work on drawing hair. I find it hard to think of different hairstyles… I’ll work on it though.

As an artist in learning, I'd recommend to simply use as many references as you can get. The more hairstyles from references you do, the bigger your mental library will be to draw upon when mixing and matching. You can't really mix and match from something that's not there.
