Hello there lovelies! My name's Cassandra!

A little bit about me, since going to be my new main page... I am 18 years old and still have a long way to go with my art. I discovered Cubebrush while looking on YouTube for tutorials and I instantly fell in love with his content. It was funny, I only later learned he was a concept design artist for Blizzard, which is what I'm currently working toward.

I graduated highschool at 16 and started attending my local community college where I've been taking art classes and American Sign Language classes. Im focusing on my ASL interpreting classes and focus on my art when I'm home. I essentially never stop working.

I want to do what Cubebrush did and network more. I want critique and feedback, and the only way to get that was to give some in return! So that's what I'm doing. I will be cataloging my art here, and giving support to the community. Here's some pieces I did <2 weeks ago.

Im trying to get better at digital painting and trying to find my own style (I have a bad habit of coping other people and setting high expectations for myself) Any and all critique would be so appreciated, and I'll make sure to check out your posts as well and try to offer what I can!

your work has a good feel to it you present it well I like when it blends well together ive painted on canvas but not digitally so I wouldn't know how to express it more

Hi Cassandra! I really like the young witch you've posted a few posts up. She looks lovely. I also enjoy the sketches for your short story.

As for some tips, I don't know if you are using references, but it's always a good idea to do it. For example, on that last picture, Her arms feel too short. You can check on yourself. The upper arm should end below the breast area, while hers stop around the middle of the breast.

And I think using references would also help for your first painting, mostly to make the building more real and convincing. I do like that you seemed to have pushed yourself out of your comfort zone with that picture though. So kudos for that!

Anyway, I really like your ideas and I'm looking forward to see how your art developps. Keep on drawing!

@cedricgo oh shit youre right it is!!!! O___O I didnt even notice. Thanks for pointing it out!

I really love your style!
I have a weakness for this cartoony style XD
I also really like your use of colors!
Im gonna have to keep my eye on your art too!
I hope you keep posting! Ill critique as best as i can

Hey Cassanda,

I really like where you're going with your art. Some really cool ideas going on here
If I can give some critiques I would suggest looking at your anatomy in general. Some of your proportions are a little off and your facial structure could use some work. Mark has a whole bunch of tutorials on the cubebrush youtube channel to tackle all these issues.

One piece of advice that was given to me was to actually study the anatomy of the body almost like how a doctor would and see how the muscles connect on the body and how the sit in different positions. This actually helped me improve my drawings a lot. I had to look up anatomy book for this one.

So the steps I got given were
1. Draw your pose from a reference photo
2. draw your anatomy over the pose (muscles as accurate as you can get them. and spend time on this section so you can learn your muscle groups really well
3. recorrect your drawing with the muscle groups in mind.

The other piece of advice is paint in values only for a while. Although painting without colour is super boring, it actually helps you understand contrast and dynamics really well. After that you'll be suprised how much easier colour comes to you.

anyways hope that helps! Keep up the good work!

10 days later

Just bumping to say I hope to see you improve here on the Cubebrush forums, and I am looking forward to seeing more of your work. =)
