Alright so here's where I'm at right now. I actually could use some feedback for this. The first one is the original one I was doing, but I felt like the monster was not threatening enough I guess. So I tried to make it look like he was seen a bit more from below, like we are looking up at him.

I'm not sure if it works better, but I also feel like I haven't quite captured that ''view from below'' I was going for.

So if someone could tell me which one works better and maybe how to just make the monster feel more threatening I would really appreciate it.

Same here, the bottom one is a good update.
If you're looking to make the monster more threatening try to stay away from rounded symmetrical forms. Think gross things like spikes growths and bumps or make one arm bigger than the other. Compositionally I think things are working really well.

Awesome work! I really like the monster's design, I feel like adding more spikes and bumps in its skin texture as well as some teeth would make it feel more threatening

I really like the ink portrait that you've done, the reflected light looks great.

I think the bottom version of the monster is better, and I second what @bennettdurfee said, some sharper shapes and asymmetry would make this monster more threatening

Painted during the last ArtSchool stream. I started with some basic jagged outlines, which became the moutains. And it somehow turned to this!

It was also an interesting exercise as I decided to only use the default photoshop round brush and I hadn't used it in years. So it took me a little bit of time to adjust to it

Muscles and anatomy are hard. Folds are too. Oh and colors aren't easy either XD

This magician dude is gonna turn out so good! I love the vibrant pink you have going on on some of the lines, also your water color stuff look rly nice , you should experiment with them more often!

Practice portrait that I did to... practice portraits. And rendering too! It's not perfect, but I think I learned a few things from it.

You seem to shy away a lot from brighter colours here. The piece is lacking some depth. I would make the eye and the light behind the monster even brighter and he should have much stronger of a rim light with this type of lighting. Especially Gandalf seems to be missing some bigger shapes on his clothes, which makes him get lost in the background. I would say make the eye a lightsource as well so you can get some interesting cast light on him.

Haha, it's okay I really appreciate your feedback. I was still unsure on how I wanted to tackle this piece, but I think I'll use your suggestions. Thanks!
