One thing I like to do to sometimes find ideas outside of what I usually do is doing word association. You pick a word that describe or correspond to a trait of your character and you make a list of words that you think of when you think of that word. And then you can associate words from that list to come up with ideas that are linked, but not directly to your initial idea.
This is a bit confusing, but you say she is reserved so let's start with that. I would go reserved, makes me think of silence, which makes me think of blind, which makes me think of echolocation, and then bats and dolphins, maybe sea creatures like jellyfish. And you go on as far as you feel is necessary. Then you look at your list and check if there are words that spark ideas for new elements that fit what you're trying to do.
Now maybe my list is not particularly fitting for this particular character, but hopefully you get the point I was trying to get across. I just found that it helped me coming up with more interesting ideas, so you can always give it a shot if you want
