G'day all! My name is Colin, a graffiti artist turning illustrator. As with everyone else, this is the beginning of my Art School Journey.

I've been drawing on and off most of my life, but mostly in the form of graffiti and lettering art and with no real dedication to learning correct form and application (especially with regard to character and illustrative art). Finally taken the step to improve on my skills, and excited to share the journey with you all.

My drawing journey so far has been mostly a solo experience, so im very excited to be breaking out of that comfort zone (at home drawing) and finally have some accountability among a group of like-minded peers.

This'll be my first forum experience, so I was a little nervous on starting my thread. But here we are!

Continuing my assignments for Term 1. Finally got around to doing the additional photoshop assignments.

And have been chipping away at my 1 Point perspective.

I dont think I'm quite finished with this piece yet, but I've been dying to get into Term 2 classes ...

Also, the posters were not free-hand drawn. I dropped in an image of the poster, distorted it inside the relevant box and then roughly traced over them. (Thought it added some cool reference elements to the space. )

Cyberpunk Room:

This is very well done, very nice line quality and design, may be just my brain but the cable on the floor seems to be levitating partly over the ground and the tray on the coffee table would fall of cause more than half of it is behind the edge keep up good work!

The details are great, just one thing: since you do have such nice curves on many parts (chairs, etc.) the couch looks somewhat "harder" to sit on But this is just nitpicking!

Thank you @Frygidal Frygidal. Yes you're right, the cable does have a sort of floating feel about it. Perhaps a little shadow running underneath would help ground it.

And the tray i think you're referring to is in the top left corner? Yeah, it does have a heavier side, I might try shifting it forward toward the edge facing us more.

Its actuallly supposed to be a hologram projection of the city coming out of a phone, but I got lazy in the design (for the time being) haha. - maybe if i soften the lines and add a little ambient light around it, might help give a hologram vibe.

hahah, it does look a little firm doesnt it! - Thanks @Julia_J . The couch was the first element I placed in the scene and never went back to. Definitely needs a little softening lol.

will have to add some cushions in the next update.

And thanks @dangras-almeida - at first I was struggling with this assignment, but once I started to see some design take shape it become a fun project. Definitely looking forward to adding more details over time.

I've always wondered how to create a brush preset... So, super stoked this was included in the class.

Created both the fence and chain brushes.

Anatomy 2: Head/Face study.

Portraits/Faces has always been my biggest strugle. Definitely excited to see growth in this area.

haha, occasionally i'd get lucky or rely heavily on copying references. But when painting on my own, they come out nothing like the ones in this assignment. lol.

Marc's lesson was insanely helpful. Now to rinse and repeat

I guess, at least I do hope so, that when using enough reference.. sooome day.. the visual library is big enough to draw something from imagination Until then... references are my best friends
